With the 75th Anniversary of the German invasion of Crete upon us can I ask Andy that you take another look at this period of WW2.

I'm wondering as K&C expand their 'Dunkirk' range if they couldn't consider 'adapting' some of these new (and past) British/Allied troops & vehicles to suit the Mediterranean campaign?

Apart from K&C's long retired German Para's I'm not aware that any other TS manufacturer has really looked at this often overlooked period of WW2?

Below is a recent NZ news story concerning the 28th Maori Battalion and the 75th Anniversary on Crete.

This is certainly worth looking at and I hope some vehicles and troops are produced for this campaign, especially some Kiwi's as you blokes were in the thick of it. I will mention however that the K&C Fallschirmjager FJ010 onwards figures are suitable for these campaigns and I think the same can be said for many of K&C's 8th Army figures and vehicles.

Cheers Tom, yeah really liked the K&C Fallschirmjager's, I only wished I'd picked some up before they all got snapped up!

To be honest I'm not too clued up on what colour's the allied vehicles would have been painted during the Greece & Crete campaign's, but yes you're right about the 8th Army stuff. I know much of the German stuff was still painted grey as they drove the Allies out.

I quite like the idea of seeing a few more allied figures charging with bayonets like the Maori Battilion were famous for, plus maybe a few more 'resting' figures.

Would be keen to hear Andy's thoughts about these campaigns?

Hey Toddy

I still see the Fallschirmjager's on ebay at recommended retail price and they may still be available for quite a while as for some reason they took a while to retire.

Yeah, it would be good to see some Maori Battalion figures, the next time I catch up with Andy I will run it past his ear.

Maoris and Gurkhas in fighting poses. We saw the Gurkhas on parade a while back, and Sikhs in fighting poses...

Agreed, Ethnic troops such as the Sikhs, Gurkhas and Maori are often over looked when it comes to TS, unless of course you were considered an enemy like the Zulu, Arabs etc.

I guess they just aren't that popular with collectors. I know K&C have done great WW2 Indian troops in the past and it would be interesting to see how well they sell.

Maori were particuarly good with the bayonet and hand to hand combat and it would have been a bone chilling experiance having to face a fully fledged bayonet charge from them when their blood was up. By all accounts those early encounters on Crete with Maori eraned them a great deal of respect by the Germans who had to face them.

Here's a taste.

Now that I own a few K&C Grey FJ's, I've bumped this thread again to make the suggestion of the possibility of producing a few Allied troops to act as opposition for the Mediterranean/Italian campaigns again.:salute::

I searched high and low for something about Kiwis fighting on Crete in the Great War couldn't find anything, then I realised you were talking about round two! :wink2: I did find lots of these.....much in common. ^&grin
