Hi guys,

As some of you may know around this time every year I head off to Europe to take part in several large “Meet ‘n’ Greets” in Italy, France and the U.K. Well, this year is no exception and in a few hours time I’ll be off into the “wild blue yonder” but before I go…

1. “I Think Grey Will Sell”…
And so do I… which is why K&C still produce quite a few fighting vehicles in the said colour. All I have ever said is that in general “camouflage” outsells “grey” by a factor of at least 3 to 1. At least as far as K&C is concerned.
However, I’m also a fan of grey so what I can say with some extra conviction is that… there will be more!

2. “Cutting Arrow’s Work
Fabulous conversions… a truly gifted artist – well done.

3. “December Dispatches
Well I just finished writing them up… But as sure as “eggs are eggs”… there will be some happiness… some disappointment.

4. “Competition
A few people seem to think that K&C have only ever experienced “real competition” since First Legion appeared on the scene… for what it’s worth K&C has always had competition (and serious ones at that) since our little company was born back in 1983. Back in the 80’s it was primarily great companies like Tradition, Trophy and Imperial… In the 90’s it was folks like Frontline, Tommy Atkins and a few others. In this century there is the revitalized Britains, Conte, Figarti and John Jenkins to name but a few.
We’ve always had competition… and we always will have competition… that’s a fact of business life… K&C certainly, does not want to be the only “leaf on the tree”. That would not be a healthy tree or a happy hobby.
First Legion make a terrific product and have a unique style… Just as K&C and every other competitor worth their salt has too. That’s why this hobby continues to attract “new blood” and why I still love doing what I’m doing.
I do think however that the second part of the original post, “No, I think K&C can handle any competition with great ease” is more than a wee bit misleading…
Running any successful company demands a whole lot of “blood, sweat and tears”. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has ever been “easy” for K&C. We work dammed hard to do what we do and produce it on a regular monthly basis to a fairly large cross section of dedicated collectors all over the world.
Whatever success we’ve achieved has involved a great team effort and plenty of the aforementioned “BS&T”. I sometimes get the impression though that there’s more than a few individuals out there who would take great delight in seeing K&C’s failure and never miss an opportunity to “snipe away” at our not inconsiderable achievements or indeed virtually any aspect of our operation.

All I can say to them… is actually nothing!

But to rest of your guys…. Enjoy yourselves, have lots of fun collecting whatever you collect and… happy collecting!

Adios for now,
Andy C.

Looking forward to Dispatches next week, just before London, makes for an enjoyable collecting week!:)

Enjoy your trip Andy and thanks for post. I particularly note your BS&T thought. For most companies little is done without that and most consumers don't know what it takes to get the final product. I've been involved in many a product development where at the last second the product was killed off because the return didn't justify the investment, a decision that basically writes off the many hours, days, months, years countless numbers of people spent working on it. I'm sure you've experienced the same, just as you've similarly suffered many a sleepless night about the decisions you make. I don't think people realize this but then again I suppose they shouldn't have to either.

Altogether, some very good thoughts from you on this Thursday.

Cheers,

Brad

Well said. All of us like to wonder whats coming next and asking for this and that on a regular basis, but few of us have a real idea of just what it takes to produce these products, how many man hours go into it , how much it costs and how many people are involved. As Andy said, nothing they produce is 'easy' to do.

A terrific post from the leader (K&C) in the industry.

Most sniping they get is likely the result of "the top dog" syndrome. Which is, whoever or whatever is "top dog", will always be the target of (new and firece) competitors (great for customers) and the subject of (often intense) criticism by those who, for whatever reason, feel the need. Leading companies, from WalMart to Apple to CocaCola, have no dearth of detractors, or firms assaulting their market share. It's the beauty, and horror, of capitalism. Today (Thanksgiving in the US) is a great day for celebrating the wonderful bounty that capitalism has delivered this great nation, and the human race, in general.

Andy, Thank you for the nice comment. You are a true gentleman.

p.s. I wasn't kidding with the post I made about being part of the K&C team someday. It truely would be a dream job!

Have fun in London and Europe Andy and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Tom

Thanks for the situation report, Andy...safe returns and warm regards...Ollie.

Up to the Royal National to see all that K&C laid out, take plenty of pics, catch up with Andy, spend some cash , a few laughs and a few drinks with a really nice bunch of chaps, another great day in prospect. What is there to be negative about, this is a superb hobby!

Sure am PA. Life is too short for too much negativity. My enjoyment of this hobby and my country's history has got me into a few arguments over the years most of which I always end up regretting as it's not what I come here to do. I come here to share my love of the hobby, my appreciation of K& C as in my view the best producer of Toy Soldiers . It's a great product in a great hobby that is FULL of good people , roll on next week!:smile2:
