The Many Saints of Newark....prequel to the Sopranos... (1 Viewer)

yea...
it's sort of funny as it tv drama like...
always happens to someone else...never to you or someone you know...
but at the time...a phone call telling you your father has been shot is pretty phone call...

Back in the 70s I was living in Arlington, Virginia and I got “friendly” with my next door neighbor, a divorcee (I think she was divorced!) whose husband was in the mob. I was 24, she was 37. He had a girlfriend so he didn’t care. Somehow, it didn’t dawn on me that fooling around with his ex wife was not the smartest decision in the world, especially when he knew about it but I guess I was lucky in that he didn’t seem to care. It was fun while it lasted. I also had another girlfriend at the time too!

oooooh man...lol...you got more guts than I do...
I wouldn't fool around with a mob guy's...girlfriend...wife...divorcee...sister...mother...cousin...etc...
it's a no win relationship...
I made a similar mistake with a girl that was an ex of a Bandido...
every time I saw him...I was sure he knew and was afraid we would have to battle...
he was a big guy...I was really scared of him...
but nothing ever happened...

It was a “win win” ^&grin a lot of fun. Every young man’s dream: an older woman. When you’re young sometimes you don’t think too logically.

caught this the other day...
was more than a little disappointed...
not what I expected...
without giving too much away...
I thought the cast was very good...
but the story line was largely the chronicling the New Jersey race wars...
again...not what I expected...
Michael Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) had what I considered a very small role in the script...
the movie was mostly the life of Dickie Moltasanti...
I thought this movie failed in showing the development of young Tony Soprano...
which is what originally drew me to watching it...

not even sure I would watch it again...

As Brad said too, we are all on the same page!

Ex Bandito - those hombres are not to be messed with. Hells Angels too. We used to have HA in Maryland and Pagans were here when I was a kid. Regarding the HA - the only time I ever interacted with them in close contact was at my friends boxing promotion (pro promoter in MD). They always bought a full ringside table and they came out in full and completely in their gear. Always created an intimidating effect which is I am sure what they were going for. I handled the pro cash payouts and always had security with me as I carried a lot of cash. One particular event, the security firm was short handed so my escort was the local President of the HA. Honestly, he was all business and professional that night, no drinking, etc. He stuck to me like glue and every one avoided us!!!!!!! Even one boxer who I was trying to pay his purse! Of course when he figured out I was trying to pay him, my bodyguard I guess was less threatening. Anyhow, it was an interesting evening.

When I was in Austin one time on my way into a government bldg for a meeting, while on the sidewalk, I heard that roar and in a no parking zone no less, the Bandito backed in. He rose all 6ft 6 of him off the bike, proceeded to fold his colors and put in the sidebag, then walked into the bldg to a parole office! My coworker express surprise that he didn't secure his bike (she was 27 at the time), I told her, I don't think he is going to have an trouble, no sane person would touch his bike nor his cut.
