The Mexican – American War 1846-1848, an episode in the Battle of Buena Vista (1 Viewer)

You don’t see the Mexican War too often on eBay, which is why sellers are pricing them high. I don’t collect WWI so I can’t comment which are rarer.

The US Artillery batteries can sell for less, especially considering their set size. But I must bow to superior knowledge elsewhere...
Don't give up on the TF Forum! Louis B & GICOP haven't even answered yet^&grin
Best of Luck, Awesome field

Martyn would probably know but this isn’t Louis’ area of interest. I have several sets including the Battle of Buena Vista box set.

I really don't know much about the production numbers of the Mexican American or WWI Trophy sets. I will say this, I used to have almost a complete set of Trophy Mexican War (I gave it to Hans years ago), and I have a pretty extensive collection of the Trophy WWI, and I think the tales of the extremely limited production of these sets are somewhat overblown. For example, there has been a lot of discussion that the WWI Turkish sets are limited to no more than 5-6 sets each, yet I have been able to get two sets of the firing line set with officer, the machine gun nest diorama set, and multiple sets of the mounted lancers and camel escort, and have seen other auctions for these same sets. I suspect that there was a great deal more production than we have been led to believe. Perhaps the dealers were exaggerating the limits on production in order to convince collectors to clear out their stock.
