The new FJ's (1 Viewer)

I say no......the more times a company has to deviate from an established mfg. process, costs them in increased capital, which then is passed onto us. If some do not have the stomach for slicing and dicing their current K/C figures to suit their variable pose needs, then they must live with the status quo. I am happy for the static figures ,as is and at a fair price....Michael

Fair comment Maddadicus. :)
Anyone else have an opinion?

Hi Harry,

My sentiments closely parallel those provided by Micheal (Maddadicus). While I clearly understand that your suggestion would allow for maximum creativity in diorama and display building, I would be fearful of the ultimate cost to the collecting public. Like Michael, and for the same reasons, I vote for the static figures.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Thanks for the feedback Pat. Maybe the idea could be met by other manufacturers. Dunno?
If I see alternatives in HK next week, I'll let you know.

Cheers Noo

I also vote with Michael and Pat on this and frankly can't see any manufacturer doing this because of the capital costs plus the inventory carrying costs.

I have an idea for a diorama, I have already made the base and added some cardboard houses and put some FOB British Tommies in it, I am also buying the new SL set and the Figfhting German Paras and the German Para with the captured Tommie set.:D

I think all the new German Paras look great and so do the new 8th Army sets:D

I really like them but I don't know if should get them:eek:

Got to save for Arnhem:cool:;)

Frankly Brad (and other resondees), I can't see the extra cost in offering some options. Surely it would be same same as the ladders, or farmyard extras already on offer? But then again, I'm not some Multi-Millionaire living on Victoria Peak in HK. :p
Will mention the issue to AN next week and see what gives. :)
Cheers

Well, from Andy's point of view, he would have to devote additional funds to making parts he ordinarily doesn't make, maintaining and warehousing the molds, and devoting additional warehouse space to carry the inventory, as well as having to develop and maintain packaging for these items.

In addition, as with any manufacturer of any kind of commodity, King and Country probably has a projected plan of operations (budget of expenses, etc.) for each fiscal year and something like this sort of throws a monkeywrench into it.

Knowing Andy as I do, I just can't see that this is something he'll want to do.

A couple of the well known FJ commanders would be a welcome addition in the future. Ramcke, Student.

Brett,
Depends how many times you post. I understand that TF gives us a 10% discount once we make captain (?)
I'm not gonna comment on posting a certain famous emperor's name in large capital fonts over and over again. Better to leave that one alone.
I note however that I'm still on lance-corps wages even though I've made sarge.....:) And I ain't getting the said discount either....:p

10% When we make Captain! I was out of the loop on that one then!!:D

I'd like some more officers from all sorts of theatres, yesterday i got the Bulge set 'Nuts'.Now McAuliffe and Patton can have a chin wag about tactics.

Harry

In all honesty - how many times do you think that I did that??

I cant believe that is such an issue - or that the 20-30 times that it was done over the last seven months is such a big deal?

Harry, unfortunately there is a mercenary ,investment take to this on retired K/C figures. Would a standard 4 man retired patrol set ,that the market says is whatever, hold for a 4 man retired patrol set as posed by Harry or Larry? Would you take a chance on an ebay auction, that says 4 man retired patrol set original from the factory posed..take the sellers word for it.....Most of these sets would lose value almost immediately, in the face of not being sure. Michael

Hi Guys,

I came across this photograph during my research on the Fallschirmjager. It was taken in Crete in 1941. I thought it might be of interest to the discussion of the Bugler!

Based on our research, though it might be surprising, some Fallschirmjager did indeed carry bugles. As has been suggested a couple of times here, the main purpose of these instruments was for communication in areas where radio and other more modern means were not working or were unavailable.

Anyways, thought you guys might find the photo interesting!
Best,

LOL,Do you remember in Dads Army,Corporal Jones would always put his hand on his hip when impersonating Lord Kitchener!!:D

Me too,i seem to have ordered a lot of armour over the last year or so,so it might be time for some more figures.Have been knocked out by the quality of the FOB Tommies.

Rob

Completly agree Rob. I especially like the new FoB British officer. Just something about him that seems to strike a chord.:)
