The Next Dodo Bird (1 Viewer)

Must say up until recently I had an ordinary mobile and was not interested in upgrading to a better one in the slightest. Then my darling wife got me the iphone and OMG!. I would now be lost without it!. The things it can do and the apps are superb. Cannot recommend it highly enough, thats probably the reason I'm on this forum so often now, I can surf at high speed pretty much anywhere;) I can even give live reports from London:D

I don't have an iphone but my son has an itouch and that is a great little device. I can actually see the Forum and other web sites the way they are meant to appear, plus I can receive my email.

Also, I used the BB last year to post what Rick Wang was announcing at Chicago. As he kept showing new stuff, I kept adding it into my draft post so that by the time he finished, all I had to do was "hit reply" and everybody got the news just seconds after he had finished announcing the new releases.

Its all about moving with the times. Its easier for young people as we have grown up with what must be a technological revolution. But, if you wish to take little interest in this available technology is ones choice but, it aids more things than it dumbs down. My mates gran often tries to turn the TV down with the mobile he bought her.
As for texting its an easy way to keep in touch and, its not really about losing the ability to speak etc its often that such deals have free texts within the contract.
Its also good fun at Uni we had one bar with an upstairs level but, no bar and to save going downstairs we used to ring the bar and get the drinks brought to us. It just would not have worked with a letter!!!!

I love this, reading the spectrum of opinion. Brad, I think you are right about my daughter, and maybe right about me too. In a way the train has left the station and I'm still standing on the platform having kind of decided to not get on.
I'm a bit lost but not unhappy being a Dodo.

Brad: Is BB bulletin board and what bulletin board would that be? Or, the light just came on, Blackberry, that's it surely. My son and daughter both have one. I feel sorry for them. And undoubtedly they feel sorry for me, Mr Grumpy, Retro.

Peter: What is a Droid? Is it edible? Is it glossy or matte?

Bernard: What's a DS? :)

In passing we had some guests last night and speaking to a young woman I said quarter-to-seven and she didn't understand. I had to rephrase to 6:45. It made me feel a bit old.

Russell,

If you had a teen age child, you would know the answer to all these questions

Yes, a BB is a Black Berry or, as my wife calls it, a crackberry :D

A Droid is like a Black Berry I believe, put out by Verizon.

A DS is a portable game player put out by Nintendo. Sony puts out called a PSP that is very popular. For the record, my son doesn't have either of those :)

Hi Brad, yes, I have co-raised a son and a daughter and a nephew too. Only now, years later, am I beginning to find out about all the things that were going on behind my back. God bless them.
The daughter came later and she never did any of those terrible teenage things. Of course I might be hearing about it all a few years from now. :D

So these three kids spent a few years in the house. I'm not sure what happened, but I do know they're good people.

Now I have grandchildren and I play with them. When I get tired I return them.:D
