In honor of the 23,000 Allied Airborne and Glider troops and 12,000 aircraft that participated in the D-Day invasion 75 yrs ago today and tomorrow, I thought I'd dust off my diorama of a UK airfield the night before the invasion as US paratroopers, glider infantry and aircraft prepared for their dates with destiny.

Your rather massive display really captures the scenes one sees in photos and newsreels of the time Pat. Good to be reminded of them.

Yep you nailed it, amazing. A few years ago when I had the funds and space, this is what I had in mind to assemble. So much time and effort has gone into this as evident. A real credit to you. Robin.

Astounding display of a pivotal and historic moment.
So very much to look at and admire.

Many thanks for bringing this marvelous display back to view.

Thanks to all for the kind words-as Ex-Airborne, I always have a soft spot in my heart (and Dioramas) for anything doing with jumping out of airplanes. Although most of my career was in Special Forces, I did spend 3 years as a company commander in the 509th airborne in Mainz, Germany in the early 70"s. The 509th had 5 combat jumps in WWII, the most of any airborne unit in the US army, and was a storied unit with a proud history. We did a reenactment jump in 1974 in France out of three C-47's as part of the 30th anniversary wearing WWII uniforms with 9 of the vets (most in their early 50's). Thanks to K&C for bringing those hero's to life in miniature, lest we forget the sacrifices they and their brit & Canadian counterparts made that night................... "Airborne!!"
