The Night Of (1 Viewer)

I saw the first episode on HBO Go a couple of weeks ago and it's riveting. I think it's going to be a great series.

HBO on DirecTV is free from 15 July to 18 July. If you are not a subscriber a good time to record what
you want until the next free period.

this is off to a good start...poor Naz...very little blood on him for the mess he supposedly made...

I thought the first episode was a bit slow. Haven't seen the second one. But for the glowing reviews I would probably give it a pass. I'll probably stick with it though.

I liked the first episode better than the second but still thought it was very good. It's an abject lesson of don't get caught in the criminal justice system.

I'm really enjoying this...

great premise for a crime drama...

Dectective Box is devious...

Naz is so naive...gullible...

I like almost anything Torturro does...

funky feet...hahaha...

I am also enjoying this but the pace seems really slow, probably leading up to something, I will keep watching as it seems to be going somewhere, there are only 8 episodes... Has anyone seen the BBC show it was based on? Chris

I liked the first episode better than the second but still thought it was very good. It's an abject lesson of don't get caught in the criminal justice system.

A situation in which all the evidence and circumstances point to an innocent person must be a real outlier and 99 times out of 100 that person is stone cold guilty. In which case I don't thnk you can blame the criminal justice system. I did see a real life crime show where a man claimed he was watching TV late one night and decided to go out for some fast food. He left his pregnant wife at home with whom he had been having difficulties. Instead of going to the fast food place just across the street for some reason he drove to the same chain about 30 minutes away. When he returned his wife and been beaten and raped. Before she died the police asked who had done this to her and she indicated her husband. This was before DNA testing and so the best they could do was match blood types and the husband was a match. About a one in four chance. Along with the identification of the wife and the implausible scenario about the crime being committed in the few minutes while he had gone out along with not going to the closer fast food place it was a slam dunk case against him. So he was convicted and sent to prison for life. Years later they do a DNA test and discover it wasn't him. But any jury would have convicted him in that situation given the evidence. Just the stars aligning in a bizarre way against him.

These sorts of shows scare me as they show how easy it is for the wrong persons life to end up getting flushed down the toilet.

It's way too obvious that one of the two guys he had words with as he entered her apartment, the one in particular who stood and glared at him, is the real killer, the clue they dropped when she let the cat out and the gate didn't close all the way showed how he gained entry into the apartment.

So that said, it's not him as again, it was way too obvious...................if it is, that's pretty lame.

if they have already introduced the killer...
I'm guessing it's her step dad...
but maybe we have not seen the killer yet...

the girl was a bloody freaking mess and Naz had one spot of blood on his palm...

so he's off my list...

I watched episode two and that was another slow burn. I only FF'd twice though. Weird about the stepdad not identifying her at first. He is definitely a strange dude. That lawyer's feet are giving me the creeps. Not a whole lot new learned in this episode about the case. More about the tedious horrors of being on the wrong side of the bars in the criminal justice system.

The show is starting to remind me of an extended version of Law and Order, when L & O was good, back in the beginning.

Just watched episode 3. Whew! Should be a good warning never to go to jail. I wonder if they filmed it at Rikers, a very tough place. His lawyer got screwed over by a high class firm but I'm not sure I'd want him representing me. I'm sure we haven't heard the last of Mr. Stone.

did you notice...
the black inmate that runs the show...
was the guy that played "Chalkie"...
in HBO's Boardwalk Empire?

I'm still on the fence with this show after three episodes. The opening credits are a clear ripoff of True Detective. That bugs me everytime I watch. The show itself is slowly paced which doesn't mean it's bad but sometimes boring. I've learned or reaffirmed a couple things. First, you don't want to go to prison. I knew this, however, even before watching. And second, if you have itchy feet it is a real pain. I also suspected this although putting Crisco on them and wrapping them in plastic bags as a potential solution was something I didn't know. Enough with that lawyer's feet! His support group was a bridge too far on that. The cat looks suspicious to me like the lawn mowing man in TD. You can't introduce something like a cat into the plot unless it is important to paraphrase some Russian author.
