Simone Biles has apparently overcome her recent struggle with mental illness after returning to her mansion! I was worried there for a minute. And no woke concerns when it comes these athletes objectifying themselves. A headline from today:

Lionel Messi has just ended a 21 year relationship with Barcelona Football club

He joined age 13 and has played countless games for them won many many titles with them over that period.

I am no Barcelona fan but I can appreciate excellence and dedication and delivery.

All this media posturing from the likes of Biles is ridiculous an d self indulgent.

I think I share your opinion about her.

I bet Messi can't "rock" a tie-dye bikini, though. Or at least I hope not. My home page opens up with some type of Microsoft news feed that is populated with various "news" headlines. Many of which are from celebrities promoting themselves on Instagram (or some product) wearing a bikini etc. to get clicks. I have no objection to this practice, but the hypocrisy of all the complaints at the Olympics about women being objectified is undermined when many of these athletes then cash in on their physical appearance.

Poor Lionel, I hope that he has enough money saved...you know for food, mortgage, etc....I feel for him...

I’m not sure what Messi has to do with the Olympics but he left Barca because of the financial standards imposed by La Liga; they are drowning in debt, which is why they were a signatory to the ill fated Super League. He’s now signed with PSG and they are now the favorites for the Champions League.

Nothing but he is a sportsman who has delivered consistently over many years

Unlike Biles who choked and now wants to be seen as some sort of hero

Except when winning the big one for his country. He even quit national duty for Argentina but was prevailed upon to play for the team in the recent Copa America, which Argentina won in the first time in some twenty plus odd years.

Frankly, I don’t see the two as comparable Different sports although they are considered the best ever in their sport.

Aren't the next Olympics in China? That should be fun. LOL. Can't wait for our athletes to kneel and protest the US while in commie China. There won't be a peep though about China since all their endorsement deals and sports apparel companies are linked to China. There was some talk of boycotting those games but that will never happen.

Believe that is correct. 2022 Winter Olympics are in Beijing, followed by the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Maybe by 2024, the Olympic committee can cut some of the bloat out of the summer games. 42 events, of which about 1/3 are really questionable, should be addressed. -- Al

Ok, so I will eat some crow on the Olympics since this might be the sports story of the year.

Polish Olympian Maria Andrejczyk auctioned her silver medal to raise money for a child who needed cancer surgery.

On Monday, she wrote that a $125,000 bid from Zabka, a Polish convenience store chain, was the winner, with funds set to help the child have surgery at Stanford University Medical Center.

Zabka, however, gave the medal back to Andrejczyk.........................
