According to the Pacific War fan site, There will be a 25 minute "making of" special on HBO in February. Also according to the site, if you are a Marine, you will be treated to free screenings at Marine bases nationwide.

"if you are a Marine, you will be treated to free screenings at Marine bases nationwide".

A nice touch. Would certainly be moving to watch it with current and retired Marines.

That would be a thrill to say the least; I'd give my right arm to be able to watch this with my Uncle Jim, former WWII Marine who passed away several years ago, still miss him everyday..........

This is going to be as good as Band of Brothers, the previews look awesome.:)

Wonder if any of the companies has a Pacific range hidden away until March or April?

Is this kind of comment really necessary. In your enthusiasm for the Pacific, why do you feel the need to denigrate?

Just stating his views on things concisely--since he has produced BOTH SERIES!

His exact comments were, this series is the most realistic, expensive, and intense that we or anyone else has ever done.

Perhaps if YOU disagree with him, why don't you write him a letter and tell him he's really NOT correct on that, and why YOU feel that something else is better. I'm sure he would enjoy your comments, as his mighty new and MEGA series is about to be launched on the world.

Perhaps the fact that this series is about the USMC and ONLY the USMC, has some people upset?????..................Stryker

I think this new Pacific series sounds superb and I'm really looking forward to it,but Band of Brothers will always be one of the best war series ever made.

Stryker, you know you can enjoy them both!;).I know it has been a disgrace how overlooked the Pacific has been over the years, and at last this series will be a step to right that wrong, but the sacrifice for all of us by the men in the ETO was just as great as those who died in the Pacific. They all died for us so we could be free from the Germans and Japenese.

I know you feel great anger about the treatment of the Marines, and no one can blame you for it,but its not the fault of the guys on the ground in the ETO dying far from home and their loved ones.

Rob: you are right, I'm just glad that Spielberg and Hanks finally got around to remembering what alot of us have known for years--and MOST of all the vets who marched across that theater of operations and conquered one island after another, until there wasn't anything left to fight. In 1945, just as in 1942 at Tulagai, the Marines were the first to land in Japan--just as they were the first to land to start the long road back. They are all heroes, and now they will be justly recognized, for some of what they did, and how they did it.......Stryker

Well said indeed,I've seen these early clips from Pacific and they look stunning.I think not only will it be great tv but it will hopefully kickstart interest in this theatre big time and gain the Heroes who rid the Pacific of the Japenese Army the recognition they are so long overdue. And who knows Stryker, maybe CS will rethink their policy on making Marines;)

Why don't you look at your comments, e.g. "bozo's circus." Had you said something like what you just said, that would have been fine. Instead you always quote as if you have a chip on your shoulder and that therefore everyone else should suffer because the manufacturers haven't made your marines. Enough, please.

Just wondering why they both cant be great shows BOB is a classic, and will judge Pacific when i see it.
