The People vs O.J. Simpson...American Crime Story... (1 Viewer)

No wish to relive this travesty, especially the Hollywood version. -- Al

I watched Episode 1 and found it very entertaining...

I thought I had kept up with it pretty well when it actually happened...

but I'm learning a lot more about it than I thought I knew...

anxiously awaiting episode 2...

I tuned in as well; have to say I was very surprised with how good it was.

After one hour; they had one glove left at the scene, another found at OJ's house, both of them had his blood on them and Nicole's, plus he was seen speeding away from the area in his Bronco, the Bronco had blood on the inside and on the door.

At the scene, there were bloody footprints and a blood trail leading investigators to believe the person at the scene was bleeding from the left hand, which OJ was. His excuse was he cut his hand on a glass.

If nothing else, I want to see how in God's name they blew this case as one hour in, Stevie Wonder could see who did this................

George...

I remember a lot of this...you couldn't help see it if you turned on the tv set...but some things I don't remember so well...and to have them all fall in place in chronological order...really helps me to see the case they built against him...my father was obsessed with following the case and trial...I was working long hours at the restaurant as this happened at peak summer time...so I just never seemed to be able to give it all the attention I wanted to...

one thing I don't like...is the casting of Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ...it's not his acting skills...but he seems diminutive in stature to who should be playing the part of OJ...not sure how tall either of them is...but in one scene...Gooding is standing next to Travolta...and he looks tiny...I dunno...maybe the height is right...but he seems small to me to play one of the league's most prolific running backs...

in fact I just looked it up...

OJ was 6'1"s tall...

Gooding is 5'10"s tall...

they should give him some platform shoes and photo shop some muscles on him...^&grin

but yea...I enjoyed it also and will hang in there to see more...

I'm with you Mike, I want to see it all laid out from beginning to end and I don't like Gooding as OJ..........a -25 on the lie detector.

Unbelievable, that's as bad as it gets.

Travolta stole that first episode, he was brilliant......................

I always believed the outcome/verdict of the OJ trial...
was somewhat influenced by the previous acquittal of the police officers in the Rodney King trial and subsequent riots...
which was only a couple of years before OJ's trial...

almost like California just wanted peace as opposed to another unfavorable racial decision followed by a riot...

I remember Marcia Clark blaming the outcome of her loss on a black jury and his celebrity status...

still...

I'm liking it and will continue to watch it...

so George...

whaaaaaaaat happened to Travolta's face?
it looks like stretched plastic that was put on with a heat gun...
those eyebrows even seem like they are in the wrong place...
maybe some bad cosmetic surgery...{eek3}

definitely not Vinnie Barbarino...

Mark Fuhrman blew this case by lying on the stand. He swore he had never used a racial epitaph and then they played a tape of him doing so. A complete idiot. He found much of the evidence including the glove. The jury apparently believed he might have planted it after he showed a willingness to lie on the stand. I don't have any doubt OJ was guilty but the whole process was a circus.

yea..I remember Mark Fuhrman's perjurious testimony was damaging to their case...

also that the defense had a theory that he planted the glove...

as he had already been caught lying on the witness stand...

I'm really hoping that was bad make up to get him to look like Shapiro.......if not...........

YIKES.

Now this is excellent television. I dvr'd episode 1 and just watched it. Fastest hour plus on tv that I have seen for a long while. As some of you were saying it puts things in order, brings up points I forgot or never knew (lie detector). Can't wait for the upcoming shows.
Some of you or throwing this series under the bus, you really need to watch it.

Fuhrman was the biggest scum bag to come out of the trial. He was convicted of perjury and is now a convicted felon. Of all the kooks and weirdos from the OJ circus though my favorite has to be Robert Groden the renowned JFK conspiracy kook. He testified at OJ's civil trial as a photo expert claiming that a picture taken at an NFL game of OJ wearing his infamous Bruno Magli shoes was faked. These were the same type of shoes that left prints in the blood at the crime scene and which OJ denied ever owning. After Groden made his case that the photo was faked for the defense thinking it was the only photo, he was shown various other films and photos taken by other photographers that day that also clearly showed OJ wearing those shoes. LOL. Groden can be found daily in Dealey Plaza hocking his various JFK conspiracy junk.

Agreed; will be interesting to see how the prosecutors blew this case.

And yes, it's putting everything in order, will be interesting to discuss it here.

Again; one glove at the scene, another at OJ's house (can't believe the defense argued it was planted at OJ's house), OJ seen speeding away from the crime scene, blood found in the Bronco and on the door, his left hand was cut as was the killers.

When OJ was informed Nicole was dead, he never asked what happened; if someone called me from the police and told me my wife/ex wife/girlfriend was dead, the first thing I'd ask is what happened?

The -25 on the lie detector test.............yowza...........did he get his name wrong too?

It seems to be the opinion among some of OJs former lawyers like Alan Dershowitz and jurors that OJ could very well have been guilty but that the LAPD lied and planted evidence. So that is why they found him not guilty. Dershowitz cites the bloody sock found in OJs bedroom. Apparently that blood had traces of a chemical used to preserve blood and the blood had seeped through the sock from one side to the other which would only happen in Dershowitz's opinion if the blood had been poured on an empty sock (i.e. the blood could not have soaked through if OJs leg had been in it at the time). I wouldn't believe Dershowitz though if he told me the sun rises in the East. But his justification for the not guilty verdict is that the LAPD framed a guilty man.

I remember reading...or hearing on tv...that a few of the jurors that were interviewed after the not guilty verdict...claimed they thought OJ was indeed guilty...but the state couldn't make the case...and with all the evidence collected...they didn't prove it...you really have to believe the prosecutors blew the case...regardless...karma is a biatch...OJ is currently serving 30 something years in prison in Nevada...and is by all accounts...flat broke...except for his annual NFL pension...

I also remember Clark saying that the jury was "blue collar uneducated"...hahaha...or something to that effect...and they really didn't understand and digest all the technical data on DNA...blood...lab tests...etc...

Jurors on Simpson trial...

28-year-old married black woman, works for the post office, high school graduate; said as a young child, she watched her father beat her mother and "as an adult I don't go for any man being abusive to me''; said she wasn't familiar with DNA; was "shocked'' to hear Simpson was a suspect.
24-year-old single black woman, works at a Los Angeles hospital, one year of college; said she has had no experience with domestic violence; said of both sides in the case: "Everybody has a lot to lose or gain.''
50-year-old divorced black woman who works as a county collections vendor, two years of college; said she "respects (Simpson) as an individual based on his past accomplishments.''
32-year-old single Hispanic man, delivers Pepsi, high school graduate; said Simpson was "a great football player.''
37-year-old married black woman, works in a post office, high school graduate; said she doesn't think Simpson "acts too well'' in movies and described the freeway pursuit that ended in Simpson's arrest as "stupid.''
38-year-old single black woman, environmental health specialist whose father was a police officer, college graduate; said the 911 tapes of Nicole Brown Simpson calling for police help as Simpson broke through her door in October 1993 "sound frightening.''
52-year-old divorced black woman, postal worker, high school graduate; described Simpson as "only human.''
22-year-old single white woman who handles insurance claims, college graduate; said she was shocked when she heard Simpson was a suspect.
43-year-old married black man who works as a phone company salesman, high school graduate; said he thought Simpson was a good football player; alternate juror until Jan. 18.
60-year-old divorced white woman who is a retired gas company clerk, one year of college; said she was the lone holdout in another murder case and managed to get other jurors to change their minds; alternate juror until March 17.
44-year-old single black woman who fixes computers and printers for county Superior Court, high school graduate; said Ms. Simpson "wasn't a saint''; had no opinion about whether Simpson is innocent or guilty; said in jury selection, "If I'm not picked, I can look at it and say, they let a good one go;'' alternate juror until April 5.
71-year-old married black woman, retired cleaning worker, completed 10th grade; said of the case: "I haven't come to no conclusion one way or the other. ... I don't know nothing about no O.J. Simpson;'' alternate juror until May 26.

When Furman stated under oath that he never used the "n" word he perjured himself thus creating doubt about his credibility. But if he answered truethfully that in the past he did use the "n" word he then would have been labeled a racist who was out to frame Simpson. So no matter how he answered it would have hurt the case.
This case was all about race, plain and simple. The blacks were getting back at the establishment. Why would blacks cheer and applaud when the not guilty verdict was read yet whites were seen looking completely schocked.
As Mike pointed out karma is a -----. No way should Simpson get 30 plus years for that crime he committed in Las Vegas, he probablly should have got probation. From what I remember about it everyone one involved includeing the victim were shady charectors.
