Another gloomy day here and Brrrrrrrrr cold - only 39F and very damp. Looks like another day inside which will allow me to continue to "play" :D . . . .

Things could be worse for you simply by living in the UK-what you are suffering now is what we call "a typical English Summer"- Cold & Wet- defintely these past four years with the odd week of sunshine strictly rationed of course-We're pretty tough and hardy us English and the Scots travelled even further north before they finally settled in a land of continual rain and sleet. So consider yourself lucky because you get a proper winter and a proper summer.

Superb set you have there Mike and it's obvious you are enjoying playing with it as you must have at least four IB threads running-didn't know which one to reply too :D

Seriously considering this set myself but I already must have at least a hundred black-hats in my stash but you have made these very tempting-Tell you what I have got though a superb Reb sharpshooter-tree positioned- when it comes time to take out Reynolds ;)

Always a pleasure hearing from you Bob. #31051 is a wonderful set. I have all the other Iron Brigade sets that WB is releasing this year on pre-order. With the pre-order items and what I already have in my collection I will have a very impressive Iron Brigade regiment by end of this year.

You have whet my appetite now. I am hoping to purchase a set of the Chosen Ground figures this week!!

I just got this today from Sierra toy soldier, I just stared at this set for almost half an hour (I can not open it up, just because The intent was It to be My Birthday Gift, which is in July), So I looked at it as much as My hearts desire. And can Not wait for the day I open it.
IT is truly a beautiful set, The standard Is Great looking, officers just looks perfect. And the soldiers with their Backpacks inscribed with their unit just made it special. And, Just is the set for me to get, I have stayed away from the ACW collection, But as soon as I saw this in The Sierra Website. I can not help, but be hopelessly be into it. And I am Looking Forward to the New releases, And For the Hunt For the Other Iron Brigade Pieces. This definitely will be fun!!

It is definitely A must buy, And anyone that buys/ gets this will never regret the purchase/ or the acquisition. There will definitely be 500 very satisfied individuals.

Messing around with a new camera this morning and thought I'd use this for a subject. As you can see I desperately need to lay in some terrain elements.

Anyway, this is the current extent of my Iron Bde collection, and represents the 24th Michigan in action on day 1 at Gettysburg.

That sure is a great start to an Iron Brigade collection MD. I see you have the 24th MI set that was sculpted by Ken Osen for Don Troiani - I have been looking for that set with no avail for a long time - It has some very nice poses.

Thanks Mike, and yes this is a cool set for sure. I was fortunate enough to get it at a decent price from Stan Clark this past winter. Perhaps WB will eventually add some more Iron Bde. poses reminiscent of the painting this set is based upon.

Very nice grouping Dave. I have often thought of going through the WB catalgoue and creating a little grouping from each of their ranges :)

Thanks Scott. This sampling technique you speak of is certainly tempting, but oh, what a slippery slope it is (at least for my temperament anyway )

As for this grouping, yes I like each one of these so they should be a permanent fixture in my frequently turned over collection. I really wish I had picked up a set of the Conte Iron Brigade casualties when they were available though. (Also could use a set of the CSA casualties now you mention it) :)

You could check with Stan Clark as he his trying to sell all his older sets from all the different companies.

Thanks Mark, and it's funny you should mention it because I am one step ahead of you in this case......;)

That is a great place to start!!! I just love that 24th MI set! Great poses and well sculpted!! Frontline has 6th Wisconsin flags if you or anyone else is in need of them. You really need the older version though (although I wish the flags were a little larger) because the newer version has battle honors that include Gettysburg on the flag. Obviously not going to work for a Gettysburg scene!!

Thanks. I've always assumed the 24th Michigan carried 2 colors like the majority of Federal units, and wonder why this painting did not include them. As I was saying before, I hope eventually to see more figures compatible with this scene from WB. :)

If Don Troiani, the painter did not include the second flag, it was not there. You can take his research to the bank..Michael

After a quick glimpse through the Alan Nolan "Iron Brigade" book covering this event, all accounts do seem to describe only a singular color wielded by the 24th Michigan at Gettysburg.
