USMC forces were made aware of The Bridge utilized by the IJA. A demolition team is dispatched to blow up the crossing preventing further Japanese tanks to cross. The mission is nicknamed, Operation Tankette.

Historic Note:

In doing some research yesterday evening, I stumbled across the Raid on Makin Island. LCRL rubber boats were launched from a submarine as one of the 1st American offensive ground combat operations in WW2.

Nice looking scene, very realistic setting. Carlson tried to surrender to the Jap(anese), they couldn't get thru the surf back to the sub. Roosevelt's son was in the raid. Don't know if he was with Carlson during the attempted surrender. Imagine the President's son becoming a prisoner. I read an article a few yrs ago where the graves of 9 Raiders were revealed by some of the islanders. They had been left behind and murdered. Chris
