Once in Asia Minor, the most direct route to the Holy Land for the Crusaders followed the meandering coast of the Mediterranian Sea across the Taurus Mountains through the Cilician Gates, a mountain pass that was a perfect location for ambush opportunities. During the passage through the harsh, dry country of the Taurus foothills, many Crusaders died of thirst, along with their horses and other pack animals. Many proud knights became foot soldiers. Here are some pictures of a small diorama portraying this arduous trek. All of the figures are by K&C. The diorama scenic base was made by Ken Osen (Hudson & Allen). Enjoy
