Once in Asia Minor, the most direct route to the Holy Land for the Crusaders followed the meandering coast of the Mediterranian Sea across the Taurus Mountains through the Cilician Gates, a mountain pass that was a perfect location for ambush opportunities. During the passage through the harsh, dry country of the Taurus foothills, many Crusaders died of thirst, along with their horses and other pack animals. Many proud knights became foot soldiers. Here are some pictures of a small diorama portraying this arduous trek. All of the figures are by K&C. The diorama scenic base was made by Ken Osen (Hudson & Allen). Enjoy :)

Well done. Gotta love those Crusader/Saracen figs ! Can't wait to get my hands on the newest Crusader releases. All I need is money.

This scene looks very nice. Beside the fine figures you have a beautiful scenic item there.
Good work.

Rod, the story line I used is based on historical fact and the actual passage that the Crusaders used to enter into Syria and then into Palestine.

The 'Bishop' is truly a magnificent piece. Great addition to your dio.
