What are those gnome type figures there Harry. Not the K and C ones.
Regards
Damian
They're something out of an ancient Chinese legend or fable Damian. I've been trying to find out exactly what, without too much success. It's to do with the three guys going on a journey into the west, I think, and they somehow get turned into those three gnome-like characters at some stage in their adventures.
I've got a few Chinese history books but no books about myths and legends unfortunately. Missus Heid isn't much help either on this one - pretends not to understand when I ask about the story behind the figures . Maybe I need to start watching "Monkey" on the tv. (Heaven Forbid.....).
I've seen figures of these three gentlemen again and again in Chinese curio shops, so it must be a fairly well-known story. I have the three figures portraying them before they're appearance is changed. They're presently in my luggage sitting in our Bangkok office. So I'll get some photos of them in a couple of weeks from now.
Until such time as I find out the story - I'll continue to use these figures as "Statues".
Cheers
H
