The Strain (1 Viewer)

Saw E-1 and thought it pretty well done. Thought they were going to rip off Stoker down the line but they threw in some different stuff. I haven't seen E-2 yet. -- Al

I saw most of the first episode and really enjoyed it. For some reason, the last few minutes of the On Demand version was cut off. I really liked how they modernized elements of the original Dracula story in ways that worked and didn't feel contrived. The ghost plane was a spooky sight. Very similar to the ship that brings Dracula to England in the novel. I was expecting a hoard of rats to run off the plane. Not sure how long they can sustain the story before it gets too unrealistic but so far so good.

I'm up to about episode 10 in this series and it's still holding up. One thing that is somewhat bizarre, though, is that some people are going about their ordinary business while zombie-like vampires are roaming the streets. I know there are probably a lot of strange folks on the streets of NYC but I think there would be more reaction to vampires ripping folks apart. LOL. The story is based on a book, so I wonder if they plan to carry it beyond one season? It's kind of like Salem's Lot comes to NYC.

Season two of this show has been amazingly good. I didn't have high expectations but it has been entertaining with lots of great characters. They have also managed to make realistic a vampire plague in the midst of modern day New York. No easy task.

We've been watching this show since it started and I think it's pretty good. No idea what the ratings are but hope it's doing well.

We discovered the Box set of Series 1 on Sky three weeks ago and watched all of that, now into the new series

Cheers
