That's a fantastic collection.What happen to it after Mr. Gilder passed away.

There's a lot of inspiration to be found in the wargames world. Some really good links here, too: http://osborneradloff.blogspot.com/2009/10/peter-gilders-models-from-wargammes.html. I just can't get past the weird proportions most of the sculptors use. I bought some of the Perry Miniatures Sudan line in 28mm- couldn't resist a full heliograph set for less than a double sawbuck:eek:. But Edward Suren was the only guy who made small-scale Colonial figures that didn't look like Middle-Earth escapees...

The problem is that when you make 28mm figures with the correct proportions, they don't sell! The over sized hands and faces stand out across a six foot table and that is what they are meant for.:D

Check out Tom Meier's FIW pieces.They are suppose to be 40mm but are closer to 28mm.They are fantastic.www.thunderboltmountain.com
