Thomas Gunn,

Your products are great. Your Hetzer, Puma, and SdKfz 234/4 are some of the best vehicles I have seen produced in this hobby. But I feel I need to post this, as you seem to think you can only be successful making rare vehicles that no other company makes. Case in point, the SdKfz 140. What the hell was this? I never even knew this AFV existed.

Niche armor is great, but it is time for Thomas Gunn to realize their vehicles are every bit as good as any other manufacturer out there. It's time to step up to the plate and make some real AFVs. Thomas Gunn, you need to make your first REAL tank. Make the big cats, and the customer will come:

Panther w/ schürzen

Tiger I

Tiger II

Panzer IV w/ schürzen

Take your pick. Make it to the high quality standard I know you can, and I guarantee it will sell.

Hunter ,

Make that a Tiger I w/steel road wheels...!
Would also really like to see TGM do a grey PZ III , that is a sorely missed AFV...

Put my name in the hat for them also. Being telling Tom that all along. Ron{sm4}

You did not know about the existance of the SdKfz 140/38T??? Well, it existed as a flakpanzer "Gepard" of which 141 were built ( K&C made one) and as a Recon tank of which 1414 were built for the German army, fitted with a 2cm or a 7,5 cm gun. You must have heard about the "Grille" and the "Bizon" Geschützwagen all based on the chassis of the SdKfz 138/140
It's chassis was also used for the building of the Marder III and the Hetzer. The SdKfz 140 was present on the battle fields as "command tank" until the end of the war .Furthermore, every manufacturer of WWII plastic tanks has the SdKfz 140 in its catalogue !!!

Bah! I concede they existed, and even in decent quantities, but no Allied soldier screamed in terror "Ahhh, the SdKfz138/140 approaches! Retreat!!!!"

Panther, Tiger, or King Tiger (or even a Panzer IV, of which 6108 model G-J's were produced), it's time to man up and make some mainstream German armor Thomas Gunn! :salute::

Agreed.

First Legion has a nice PZ III in grey that I have been resisting because its $299. My Thomas Gunn Hetzer blends great next to my Figarti T-34/85 (and cost half as much), so I don't see why TGM can't make a mainstream German tank in the $170-200 price range.

To be fair it one thing to asked for something to be made but it different when you have to take the risk of making it and turning it in to a profit and after speaking with Tom that the impression I get that he will make them tanks when he fill the market right for them as it his money at the end of the day

I understand the point and realize at the end of the day the company has to make a profit but there is no way you can convince me making a SdKfz 138 or Lynx is more profitable than making a Tiger. Make a Tiger I, market it as a Wittman or LSSAH Tiger and I guarantee it will sell faster than the SdKfz 138 or Lynx.

Tigers are probably the best selling vehicle in this industry, so its not like it is a huge risk.

Hunter ,

From what i understand the smaller AFV's are more profitable...cheaper to make due to less material being used & in the finishing because of it's size...Using the TGM Hetzer as an example vs. the future/or imagined TGM Tiger I w/steel road wheels ( the real Tiger I was 4ft wider & 3 ft taller than the Hetzer...) In toy soldier terms the Tiger is 33% wider & 30 % taller than a Hetzer...Taking those things into account would in my est. push a TGM Tiger I to a price point of around $190 - $200...Which is right in the range of a K&C Tiger I...
That being said yes , i believe that a steel wheeled Tiger I would be a quick sell out...It would not have to be Wittman's Tiger to do so...
I have seen enough Wittman Tiger's for awhile...
Also i believe a Pz III done in grey would be a real winner !!

Joe

I repainted a 21st Century Pz III to grey...Would be interested to see a TS co. other than FL make one...

that hetzer really nails it. One of the top three armored vehicles to come out in the toy soldier market

Why would TG make a Wittman Steel wheel tiger when Figarti have one at the moment at a cheap price ? How many Wittmman tanks do we need ? Keep making the same old Sherman and tigers is boring to be honest and if you wanted a Tiger you can't go wrong with Figarti in my opinion . I think where TG is doing well is making stuff the other toy company's don't make at the moment and after talking to Tom 2014 should be a great year as well

I have to say I think it would be easy for TG to go down the road of doing Tigers etc but, there are plenty available and at the moment the first correct (almost!) steel wheeled variant of the Tiger out from Figarti in both camo and winter. Its not sensible or probably economically viable to have TG release one. I have lots and lots of Tigers from manufacturers but, the you can never have enough Tigers may sound nice and, is a manufacturers dream to hear but, even I am tiring of them being released and, happy to see TG steer clear of them for now. I am sure they will be done eventually. For me, looking at The AFV's TG has released and the standard they are at that TG has to prove they can do detail by releasing Tigers

Mitch ,

You are right about Tiger releases especially Wittman Tiger releases...! That should be a trivia question...How many different Wittman Tiger tanks have been made & by whom ?
I personally would like to see TGM do a grey Pz III , I know you you did a repaint on a K&C one which looks awesome & I did a 21st Century one...The FL one @ $299 is a little steep IMO...So I think the toy soldier market would respond well to such a release...
How was your Christmas ?

Joe

Joe..

My Christmas was really nice and I hope yours was also. I would think a Panzer III would be something TG would address its a small enough AFV and has not been done to death as Wittmann did not have one as a ride!!LOL Having said that CS have just released a number of Panzer III's so, it will be interesting to see what AFV's TG actually do

The FL versions are pricy but, they are nice! I have looked at the 21st century repaint you did and its also very nice

Hopefully we will not have to wait too long to see the next AFV

Mitch,

My Christmas was good...alot of visiting & proof it's over...My wife got me my first wooden warbird , if you haven't seen my posts , it is a 1/30 DAK JU 87...I am quite taken with it...I swore I wouldn't do aircraft as I don't have the room...But a desert Stuka is right in my wheel house...!
I know CS has issued a Pz III but it is not grey ?! I have looked @ FL item's...they look good but I have a hard time spending $300 on one...
I have been looking @ a lot of the TGM stuff , From the forum...I am willing to give them a chance & pick something up...just waiting to see what's coming up ?!
I know the Wittman Tiger is so over done !! Everybody beat it into the ground...I feel like every month I expect another announcement of another version of it's release as something groundbreaking !!! ^&confuse
I am glad your Christmas was good...How did Santa treat you ?? Haven't seen you mention any new acquisition's !
Thanks for the compliment on my Pz III...Your work is inspiring to see...Really enjoyed seeing your grey repaints...especially the grey Pz III...Top Notch as always....
Other than a Pz III , if TGM wants to keep the AFV's on the smaller side...a Pz I command tank , a Pz II Ausf C or an Sdkfz 263 would be most welcome !!
Happy New Year !!

Joe

Wow, you guys really latched on to the mention of a Wittman Tiger, but missed my larger point I think.

It wasn't meant as a request to have another Wittman Tiger built, as I agree they have been done to death, it was meant as a response to the sentiment that TGM might be worried larger armor wouldn't sell/be profitable. Like it or not, Wittman Tigers sell, and if TGM did an interpretation I guarantee they wouldn't lose money on it.

The Panzer III sounds good. Personally I'd prefer to see a Ausf N w/ sideskirts done up in Kursk colors.

I still think TGM needs to take a stab at the big German cats: Tiger I, Tiger II, Panther. But hey, if TGM is content playing second fiddle to KC, Figarti, et al. Keep making the little stuff.

Joe...

I had not seen the wooden stuka but will have a look. As I mentioned in another thread I don't get TS for Christmas etc as I buy them all year round. Plenty of other nice stuff a new Tablet and such like.

The crazy dudes here removed me from the royalty and nation thread as they just could not take critique of either products or undesirables fleecing collectors so, I cannot comment on these things but, such is life!!!

I would like to see command tanks in Panzer I and II or standard versions done by TG I think, its overlooked the detail that their AFV's have for a new company moving into this field.

Thanks for the comments on the repaints. Plenty more coming in the new year but, will have to start a thread to Mitch's stuff!!!
Happy new year
Mitch

Hunter Rose...

Not sure ''second fiddle'' to the company one dares not mention is appropriate IMO. what they have released is far superior IMO to what is being offered by the alleged ''main fiddler'' in terms of paint and detail especially, tracks. I think TG would, as I mentioned, love to make all these items but, there is a plethora of them about. They don't sell out, many of the Wittmann items are still available in a number of places and, the larger numbers of the Figarti Wittmann Tiger is probably going to be around for a long time.

Mitch ,

I am sorry to hear about your removal from the aforementioned thread...Is it temporary ? I had a thread going on there pushing the idea of doing the satellite nations of Germany for the east front...Hungary,Slovaks,Romanians,Finnish...etc...It was an interesting thread , Andy responded but in so many words doesn't feel they would sell well , but left the door open as a gesture of you never know!
The interest in TGM has been rising for me...I love seeing unique AFV's...Like when I pushed for the 38 t
& it was made...never thought after twenty years of collecting I would ever see or own one...
I also started collecting Hiriart got a couple of there Pz II set's...
Looking forward to future TGM release's ! Would love to see a command version of a Pz I or Pz II...

Joe
