First Legion is extremely proud to present our 11th figure range, the Vietnam War!!! From the Mekong Delta to the DMZ, First Legion will take you there. Technically not a war as the US Congress never officially declared war, the US conflict in Vietnam lasted some ten years from 1965-1975 and wholly defined an entire generation of Americans. Our intention of course is to leave the politics of the war aside and focus solely on the military portion of the conflict with some of the finest figures we’ve ever produced. We’ve started off with US Infantry from the 25th “Tropic Lightning” Infantry Division. The division was heavily engaged throughout the war in and around the area of Saigon and is heavily associated with such battles as in the Iron Triangle, the Ho Bo Woods, the Boi Loi Woods, Hoc Mon, War Zone C, and even Cambodia. We have chosen to present them as they would have appeared in 1968/1969 right around the TET Offensive and the battles which followed with full kit out on a search and destroy operation. With the superb sculpting and painting that we are renown for, these are surely some of the finest Vietnam War figures ever created. We sincerely hope you enjoy them and appreciate our attempt to bring to life one of the most controversial and defining chapters in American history. VN001-VN004 are now available for pre-order, shipping late August and VN005-VN009 will pre-order late August and ship late September!

Matt,

Very nice!! Great figures, I am in for FL Vietnam.

Classic poses to start the series. I will definitely be adding 4-8 from this range, and these fit perfectly the scene I had in mind.

Please give us an indication of where this series is going.......VC, ARVN, Marines, Allies, vehicles (M113 APC) or maybe a Bell Huey?
Will this all depend on the popularity of the first releases?

Yes. :)

Basing future releases on the success of early releases is something of a catch-22. We feel that you really need to give a range a chance to succeed as stopping early based on lower than anticipated sales of initial releases can be something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. So the long and short of it is, like all of our ranges, we're pretty comitted to doing this one. It doesn't hurt that we here love the topic and our collectors ourselves. I guess this is one of the benefits of having a toy soldier company - every once in a while we get to make a range simply because we want to. ^&grin

I,ve been wanting an excuse to start buying FL, now here it is. I,m in.

Very nice Matt... Will collect the series... My only concern is that they look too "clean"...

Congratulations, FL. You all really nailed these releases. The Bloop gunner, the Pig gunner, and the RTO figures are outstanding. Especially like the detail on the iconic boots. Well done. -- Al

Beautiful looking squad there. Still not first cav {sm4} Still on the fence here on these guys. Im quite sure the 113 will be what pushes me over the edge- just too sentimental an attachement there choking on dust and getting bounced all around in the back of those things.. Im still entrenched in Rome but still like the Samurai cavalry over these guys. Too many ranges will get me spread too thin.

Some of you fellas are looking to launch into Vietnam as your first FL range. I jumped into FL last year with their announcement of their Romans. I was a bit nervous with the sticker shock but can tell you that the company is a blast to collect. Dont let the prices deter you. I ahve been able to collect all the Roman and then some and actually am spending less each month because the pace of releases is slower and more manageable. Im not trying to champion FL over any other company, just trying to assure potential collectors that the sticker shock isnt an impediment to collecting this company.

Congratulations to First Legion for this and many other fine releases this year. Cant wait to see more down the road.

What a breath of fresh air! Finally a major manufacturer sees fit to take a large financial risk to cover an era that has not been well covered in the past. I wish FL success in this venture and I congratulate all those collectors ( and vets ) who have been patiently waiting for this series. {bravo}}

Will certainly be picking up a couple. Looking forward to what hopefully will follow -- Marines (maybe one with an M14 and another with a shotgun). Maybe the Cav at the Ia Drang. LRRPs, SEALS.

I really like the looks of these fellas and I'll be picking them all up when they come out. Question though for those with more knowledge of this era? During Vietnam was a collapsible stock common? Only reason I ask is because the Sgt. seems to have one.

It does look like the collapsible stock. They were in Nam - 2 position old style ones.

Thanks for the info Terry. Of course I just saw the gun he was holding and didn't identify it. If I would have taken a few seconds longer to look at it I would have noticed that FL indicated it was a CAR-15. A little quick research and it was discovered that it was used in Vietnam. Great attention to detail FL. I just assume the m16 when thinking of Vietnam. Its good to see FL thinking outside the box with their figures.

The sergeant with the CAR-15 looks ALOT like Sgt. Barnes. I wonder if he has the scars?:wink2: -- Al

That is funny, I was thinking Barnes also. These figures look excellent. Very well done.

This is good news. Was hoping somebody would announce a Vietnam war range and am glad its First Legion. If the quality of the Stalingrad sets is anything to go by these should be excellent. Be interesting to see how the range expands.

Another great looking range for First Legion, it seems there is not a area of wars/battles/conflicts that First Legion is afraid to tackle, hard to believe just a short time ago First Legion had only a few ranges to choose from, now look where this company has ventured into in that short amount of time!! ,congrats again to matt and his team ...Sammy
