This is my newest favorite figure. After buying it a couple of weeks ago I just had to set him up in a simple dio. Anyone else crazy about this figure and want to see JJ issue more like this?

Great little set up.{bravo}}Makes you feel like it's back in time.just goes to show you that you don't need a hundred figures to have a nice set up.Don't get me wrong though I like those kind too.^&grin

Hi

I have a question for fellow forum members who are better informed ... can this piece fit into the AWI ? NAP ? or even ACW periods ?

Brilliant piece from JJD .. and have it on order.

just got mine last week...great little set .....put mine in the stockade for protection^&grin.....love to see a few little additions ....blast furnace and hanging tools .......^&grin

Top notch diorama and photo of one of John's most interesting sets.

Great little dio!

I got mine a bit ago and have him in the stockade for protection.

I'd love to see more figures like this from JJ. In fact, a little blacksmith shop mini dio would be just the thing to add some interest to my "Raid" display. I love these little "slice of period life" additions.

I think this figure could be used in about any period through WWI.

Thanks to John and to Fraxinus for a great addition to my collection.

Thank you all for the kind comments regarding my scene.

I agree with what has been said about the figure fitting into other periods. I think it goes with any 18th C or 19th C time period.

Let's hope that John will make other figures and/or accessories to compliment this one.

The figure is superb and this scene really does work. Although only a single figure plus a horse, the scene is complete and it lacks nothing. What are you using as the ground cover?

Thanks for Posting

I think I'm starting to see a change.I'm seeing little by little a getting away from the military to little vignettes of life in the 18th-19th cen.I myself am finding these more and more enjoyable.Little snapshots of a simpler life.Maybe deep down we all crave a simpler life.I loved Andy Griffith when I was a kid,Still do.Love the quaintness of Mayberry.

Actually can also work for the Jacobite Rebellion and Culloden. British troops scoured the countryside for remnants of the the Highland army and could be posed marching past the blacksmith and his barn.

Mark...

This is a great set, and I cannot imagine how it could be displayed better than as it is in your dio...congrats!

Possibly a heat source? A simple forge?

I have to go by memory since I no longer have the original packaging but I believed I used the brown-colored ballast (fine or medium) by Woodland Scenics.
