I admire a man like Steve McQueen. He had a rough early life, bad parents, reform school, a stint in the Merchant Marines, then the Marines. He went AWOL

for a time, then got his life together, turned himself around and became the biggest film star in the world. He was good to his family, helped his friends, even

returned to assist the reform school he attended. He loved life, fast cars, motocycles, airplanes, and old toys. He died far to young from cancer probably from

his Merchant Marine days working around asbestos.

I find it difficult to have sympathy for someone that has his health, success, fame, wealth......and then choose to piss it all away by abusing alcohol, drugs and

their health in general.

When I see a man in a wheelchair I also question those that would choose to Bungi Jump off a bridge. It might be fun.......but it is worth the possible risk?

I'm sure there are plenty of people that believe we waste our lives and our money on collecting toys and models :D

And plenty more who believe that others waste their money on fast cars and motorcycles.

When I see some fruitloop blow by me on the highway driving a motorcycle 80 miles an hour without a helmet (hey, if a state has a no helmet law, then I'm not going to wear one, because I'm cool), I think to myself "There goes another organ donor"....................

Hi George, sorry mate but as a petrol head from way back I wouldn't consider any fast car or motorbike a waste of money. I'm actually thinking of getting another motorbike now that I don't have a wife to remind me they are not really sensible - but I always wore a helmet - not that they help much in a stack at 80 mph  :D

They are sensible as long as you use common sense when riding them, which you clearly do by wearing a helmet; why anyone would climb aboard without one is beyond me.............

I agree 100%! Motorcycles are fun to look at, and wonderful to ride but

dangerious as hell! People don't see you, pull out in front, switch lanes, or

tailgate.

I have had more then a few close calls, also been hit by a car when an

old couple blew thru a stop sign.

A good helmet is a life saver!

When I was a youngster, my father was taking me into Boston to visit his parents and we came around a corner and two motorcycles were sprawled across the road and two bikers were laying in the road.

My dad got out of the car, put both of them into the back seat with me raced off to the hospital. We got pulled over as he was speeding and he flashed his badge (Boston Police officer for 37 years my dad was) and he showed the officer the two bikers in the back seat; we got an escort to the hospital from the other officer.

Not sure how those guys made out, but the back seat of the car needed to be replaced as it went from light tan to red...................

George:

That reminds me of the old days (not saying that still doesn't happen). When

you used to walk into a Harley Davidson dealer most of the staff looked like

walking wounded! They mostly kept those guys in the back in the parts dept

or they would never sell a bike!

What a difference in todays Motorcycle Dealership! First off most are hugh

dominated by racks of clothes, lots of really hot biker chicks maning the sales

counters and mostly professional salesmen. Things are a bit safer now so

most of the walking wounded parts guys are just loaded with tattoos. The

clients are different now when they have a barbeque maybe 5% are real

bikers all the rest are my age.

Just like the "Wild Hogs" movie!:D

I will say that I am on my 15th & 16th motorcycles spanning 40 years but

I supose I look like all the other guys!:D

Saw the movie last night then came across this article on CNN today:

(CNN) -- Wrestler Edward Fatu, better known as the hulking, tattooed WWE superstar "Umaga," died Friday of a heart attack in a Houston, Texas, hospital, a family friend said.

Born in American Samoa, Fatu, 36, was a member of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family, which includes cousin Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, his two uncles, who wrestled as The Wild Samoans in the 1980s, and brothers, Sam "Tonga Kid" and Solofa Jr. "Rikishi," according to Wrestlers Rescue, a support group for retired professional wrestlers.

The two-time WWE Intercontinental champion, also known as "The Samoan Bulldozer," squared off with the likes of Triple H, John Cena and Ric Flair before the WWE terminated his contract in June for having violated the WWE's Wellness Program and refusing to enter rehab, the WWE said on its site.

The organization offered its condolences to his family in a brief statement on its site.

To friends and family, Fatu was a devoted father who was looking forward to spending more time with his children after leaving the WWE.

I just seen the movie last night on cable. I must admit I'm not a big Micky Rourke fan, but that was a good acting job for him. I will also say, Marisa Tomai the dancer has gotten better with age. I don't watch movies based on if their good role model characters. I like action, comedy, and horror, a little T&A mixed in is fine also. I think people get to deep and personal on anything said. I thoght Micky's character was very believable.:)
