I managed to get one of the last of this model available from Xuah Hua and glad I did… It’s stunning! Easily one of the best SdKfz. 251 models in 1/30 scale, including the excellent JJD models. Lots of interior details and a driver figure is even included.

I’ve got mine in a Stalingrad themed display using a mixture of First Legion and War Park figures. Can you spot the Russian snipers?

Historical note: The Xuan Hua halftrack model is in the livery of a vehicle from the 11th Panzer Division during the Balkans campaign in 1941; however, 11th Panzer did later participate in Case Blue, but did not get caught up in the fighting within Stalingrad itself. The vehicle is therefore kind of accurate for the setting, but not quite. Still, it looks the part in my display and I’m glad I got one 😎

Superb as always! Did you see the latest half track? looks like a command vehicle with the overhead antennae, stunning looking!

Great looking 251, certainly one of the best going. The Russian spotter would have an eye full at this range 😀. Robin.

Thank you, Kollos! Yes, I did see the new XH command halftrack… It looks fantastic! They’ve also got a winter whitewashed halftrack coming with seated tank riders/passengers, too. Just wish someone would make a standard gunner figure again.

Thank you as well, Robin! Totally right on that spotter having his scope full at that close range, lol. I’d not found a good use for the War Park Soviet Assault Engineer sniper and spotter figures, but then decided to place them in this scene and they work perfectly!

Fantastic display as always Tristan, every element works perfectly 👌
Thank you also, Brian! It was the pics you posted of your Xuan Hua SdKfz 251 on Facebook that showed what a fantastic model this is and I had to get it after that.

And dhui0127, that is a fantastic setup you have with all those War Park, Xuan Hua, and First Legion items 😎

This is a beautiful model, and very well detailed. I liked that Xuan Hua chose the earlier Ausf B version, as it's never been done before.

If folks like winter scenes, this halftrack is perfect to depict 11. Pz.Div. during the 1941 drive on Moscow in Operation Typhoon. The earlier Xuan Hua winter Germans in overcoats reflect it perfectly like these historic color pictures of 11. Pz.Div. from that period.

Tristan:

Which figures come with this 251?

Best,
Jason
Jason, Wayne answered your question perfectly! That was one of the selling points on this particular model - it had the driver figure. Just wish XH or someone would make some gunner and crew figures for these halftracks as the First Legion GERSTAL071 figure is hard to find these days…

Darn it Steve, now you’ve got me thinking of redoing my diorama to a winter scene, lol! I’ve got a few of the early XH winter Germans that I have been using in a scene with my JJD Tiger I Initial Production model. Something to think about…
