Then I would get my facts straight. They are and always have been long before the current administration. Immigration Enforcement is nothing new, they are federal agents run by federal agents, forget the new recruits, it is nothing new.

And why wouldn't they be legitimate? They are sworn officers employed to uphold the law of the land.

I just and never will understand why common sense has left the idea of enforcing the law. If local law enforcement was allowed to do their job, none of this would be happening.

As per Wikipedia (so there is no confusion about me making stuff up);

"ICE is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security, their job is to conduct criminal investigations, enforce immigration laws, preserve national security, and protect public safety.

ICE as an agency was created through the Homeland Security Act of 2002 after September 11th, it's been around for about 23 years."

As with basically all law enforcement, it's a thankless job.
 
It's great to see that we are no longer being duped by Iran. It's time to bring the hammer down on a regime that has sponsored terrorism for decades. The US tried to play nice with them as though they were people who could be reasoned with. That didn't work. As Ash from the Evil Dead said, "we gave peace a chance, now it's time for war." And by war, I simply mean supporting the great people of Iran in toppling their oppressors. This is no time for half measures.
 
"Cool Hand Luke." My all time favorite movie. I've probably watched this movie a hundred times and never get tired of it. Paul Newman and George Kennedy were fantastic. So many great scenes.

Paddy...I agree with your statement...the way they are being used is a sham...under a different regime...I would say I definitely could see them as a very useful legitimate law enforcement agency...there is definitely a need for them...a specialized agency to remove the worst of the worst...

but they are not being used that way...these guys have become Trump's goons...to punish blue states mostly it seems...Trump's will is forced on ICE to do what he says...gather up anybody they want...right or wrong and incarcerate them with no jurisprudence...no trial...no habeas corpus...no proof to the public...no Constitution...just ICE's word that they are the worst of the worst...they just seal the file up and say guilty...then they are shipped off in the dead of the night to a foreign prison...

who knows if they are guilty of anything...certainly not the public...same thing as the suspected sunken 36 drug boats and 115 deceased...while I believe that some of them are running drugs...probably a good majority...they have not proven that of any of us...Hegseth claiming these are top secret videos that can't be shared with the public...especially the one where he killed two unarmed survivors...instead blowing them up and killing them without any proof there are dugs on their boats....how about capturing them? Maybe we could gather some very important intel...

The saddest part of all...is even if any ICE officers were found guilty in a court of law...Trump would almost certainly pardon them like he did in the insurrectionist's on Jan 6th at the US Capitol...the leaders of the Proud Boys...the Oath Keepers...the Three Percenters...and 1,600 far right supporters...all found guilty of insurrection and violence then sentenced...instead...they all got a "Monopoly Get Out Of Jail Free Card"...this is how our government works these days...

Not the saddest...but the scariest part of this is the future...as Trump controls the Feds...the Supreme Court...the Military in all his might...ICE...ect...you might expect another Jan 6th if he doesn't want to leave office in 3 years...
 
I believe in Federal Law Enforcement as much as Local. But weaponized Law Enforcement equals a Police State.

I have had enough of the absolute horse puckey being posted here by two of you. It is an insult to intelligent people and a complete insult to law enforcement in general. Say what you will, but because of your absolute hatred for the President of the United States, there is a complete film over your views and vision. That is abundantly clear and take the time to read your posts, the entire ICE Department or any department as someone's goons, are you kidding me? If you believe that, I feel truly sorry for you. But hey because of where you live and reside, you have Free Speech, no matter how idiotic the premise of the comments may be, ponder on that.

I am the first to say I don't agree with any politico across the board nor do I drink any Kool-aid. Two things I do believe are a 100% absolute are respect of all law enforcement, respect of our laws (especially Immigration) and respect of a capitalist society where the sky is the limit on what I can personally do, earn and achieve and I don't owe one thing to anybody else. In other words, I can be proud of all of the above. I am also proud to be an American as cheesy as that sounds, I would not trade this Country for any other in the World, there is ZERO comparison to the freedoms we have. Some States have more Freedom than others, but at the end of the day, there is no more open society than there is here and it will continue to be that way regardless of our President.

So, by all means I am sure there will be a last word post out there, but been there done that, said my part, please direct your comments elsewhere. Continuing this conversation is the definition of insanity which to clarify is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Personally, right now the future for the USA could not be any brighter. Contrary to the news, foreign policy is looking decent (even Russia, they very well could run out of steam at this point), the economy for all the bs out there ain't bad. There is more investment occurring here daily than in the last 15 years (I know as that is what I do for a living - develop), so I look at the future as bright, always have, always will to the day I am horizontal, until then, it is game on - full tilt boogie.

Not to any reasonably intelligent person, it is crystal clear, I have never had a problem separating BS theory and paper writers to what actually occurs. It is actually a very practical term and if more people would exercise it, it would be a less annoying world. Learn to do.
 
I think everyone who follows this thread knows my stance...please don't waste your time reading or replying to my posts with the personal insults that are getting out of hand if you just want to disparage my views...lets try to keep freedom of speech on this forum civil...you are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine...

also these flagrant insults about America's low IQ are pretty insulting...as a whole...the majority of America's polls seem to coincide with my views...if you feel it causes you to hurl personal insults...I wish you would check yourself...again...it's getting out of hand

Julie is nice enough to give us a wide berth on discussing this and she has asked us to keep it civil in the past without name calling...to be chastised and demeaned for my views is pushing too far...if you disagree with my views...just respond politely...or don't respond at all...I have not resorted to insults or name calling and will continue not to do so...

I was criticized for using the word "Gestapo" referring to ICE tactics a few days ago...I'm not the only one...

If you can find one personal insult in my posts to anyone other than my disgust with what you posted (again, that is not personal, I just disagree), you clue me in. And as to the General Public, I have and will always stand by my thoughts on that, I travel this Great Country on the daily due to my job and unfortunately, that is proven again and again to me personally.
 
Popcorn. RFK Jr. will probably disagree but I even like to soak it in whatever they claim is butter at the movies. It's like greasy gold. When I'm paying ten dollars for a bag, though, I do object to having to put in on my own popcorn. What would Freud make of having to pump your own butter? And plenty of salt which usually pours out of those movie salt shakers like water over the great Niagara. I even still like Jiffy Pop. Jiffy Pop has to be weirdest and most unhealthy snack in history. You can literally hear the butter sizzling. It's like something out of a time machine. No way to improve upon it. Even the zombie kids of today marvel at the Jiffy Pop bag as it inflates. No easy task to impress them.

Example: "YAY, my mom was released from the hospital and even though not home, at least into a facility 10 minutes from my dad and even closer to my one brother, so at least they can visit her more easily."

And FYI - you all realize all this 'news' in Minnesota is where I am? It is terrifying to watch first hand. Much different than any of the edited for TV 'news' that is out there.

That's a strangely specific example. If it is real, then I wish your Mom all the best. Been there and done that. If it is fictional, I now have a weird emotional investment in what happens next. Does the brother do the right thing and visit his mom or is he self-absorbed and find excuses?
