Here is a question to ponder . Does this forum and the reviews influence what you spend your hard earned cash on. I listen to a lot of the reviews on this site as well as see the pictures from collectors and that does judge whether I purchase a product or not that I can't get to see myself in person. To me this is a great place to judge a product with all of the talk either good or bad and getting past all the insults of other companies that sometimes get's thrown out there I still seem to get a good review. What are your opinions on the matter does this forum help you decide yes or no. Chris.{sm2}

Diorama's using the products which are not always toy soldiers either, are for me a great way to encourage me to collect. For example the latest K&C Commando's were firstly not on my hit list, but seeing them in person with Andy, really changed my mind and was reinforced by Gordon's warehouse and pillbox diorama's. On occasions the comments on the forum will influence me whether to buy or not, but overall seeing a scene and how they can be displayed is the deciding factor. Interesting question though to see what motivates collectors. Robin.

Over the years this forum has had some affect on what I buy but I have found that photos can be misleading regarding factors such as detail, coloration and the size of the item, and of course any reviewer will have his own bias and ideas. I use the forum as a guide and wait until I can buy an example of a new range to check it first hand before I commit to more expense.

I agree as well that I have started a small base for my up and coming commando's from the review's heard on this forum. Chris.

Another good reply and yes you do get a good gage with the reviews but nothing is better than seeing them in your hand. Chris.

Any place where there is active participation on any subject there is going to be a pool of valuable information. I have seen on here and other related forums all kinds of creative inspiration as well as product info.

As a retiree, my funds are limited. So this forum, through comments, dioramas, and "How To" guides; has helped me focus on direction to follow on a particular subject matter. It has entertained and inspired me immeasureably on this great hobby of ours. Thank you all for sharing. :)

Hi Guys

I am lucky because I have a shop I can go to and review with my own eyes. So hearing what other people say is nice on the forum. But it doesn't influence my buying habits. I buy what I like and don't let anyone sway me one way or the other. My eyes tell me what is good :)

Brad :)

It doesn't normally make a big diff as I tend to make up my mind whether I want something or not pretty darn quick. However , with some other items like ACW/WW1 I very much appreciate and take on board what others have said if I can't make up my mind . This is because I have a great deal of respect for a great many people on this forum.

Maybe I'm not altogether typical - as I like painting my own - BUT - what I do appreciate are pictures of what others collect - and show here. They very often stimulate me to try and find either what has been shown as castings - (where manufacturers give customers that choice) - or - find something that could be used or adapted somehow - to give me something like what has been shown. I also very much appreciate the help offered by others on painting advice or technical help in converting and repairing. There are some REAL experts here - with sometimes a lifetime of experience with elements of this hobby.

So - maybe not typical - but the forum definitely DOES affect what I purchase. jb

I have to like an item to buy it. Just because someone likes it on here or makes a big thing about a range or figure being the business if I don't like it I won't change because someone I know collects it. I think the forum really has no influence upon what I will or will not buy as the variance of opinions is vast and, so, it should be. Can you imagine if we were all ''blind sheep''!!!

I like items from all manufacturers and dislike items from all manufacturers. If X releases one stonker of a set one month the next might IMO of course be a stinker. I also like hearing everyone's opinion good or bad on a release I am interested in

I would say that I was interested in the look of the JJD WW1 aircraft and discussed the detail etc with Al and from that I bought them and have all except the Weiss announced recently. But for this interaction I would probably not have collected them.

We do see a lot of figures here that we wouldn't see elsewhere and I admit to being influenced to look for some of them; e.g., HECO. But I only buy those that fit my theme (WW1) and within my price range . . . though who among us doesn't go over the limit now and then! To me, it would be sad if someone bought an item because it was popular and not because they were attracted to it. Do any of you buy items because you think you can get a better price for it through resale?

If I see something I like I will tend to buy it. If additional photos come out as say here on the forum before I buy it, it may push me to definitely buy the item ! :wink2:
