A little more info on camouflage paint on German helmets in general:

In the second paragraph the author talks about 2 kg and 20 kg cans of paint paste that were thinned with water or gasoline. This has to be the various vehicle paints (RAL 7028, 8017, 6003) which units would likely have a supply of.

Robert Kurtz excellent book 'German Paratroops' also has some excellent photos of 'liberated' FJ helmets sporting the Normandy Comouflage scheme as well. For our second release we added a touch of rust colour to the 2 helmets worn by our figure with the map and the figure with the eye patch, although the photographs do not appear to have picked this out.

I bought the Book German Paras in North Africa, and it Shows MOST All of the FALLSCHRIMJAGER Pattern Camouflage Colors, that these Troops wore in WW2! Also, a NEW Release Book from OSPREY Publishing on the RAMCKE'S Brigade Paras in N.Africa! CIAO!
