Now that we are expected to pay big dollars for our models I reckon it's time we got some good value for money with Tigers in 1/30 scale done the Figarti Way.

Some will say there are currently too many Tigers available. However HB have stopped production of vehicles and the Figarti 1/32 Tigers as good as they are, they're not 1/30 scale.

That only leaves us with the AK Tiger I and Normandy Tiger II (King Tiger) from K & C and The Collectors Showcase offerings. I won't go into details but suffice to say those products aren't up to the standard of detail we see in Figarti products.

It looks like we are getting Rommel's Storch from Figarti so let's loby Rick for some Tigers - suggestions please.

Well i'd like my next Tiger to be from the Leningrad sector. There is a book i have by Waldemar Trojca called 'Tiger in color'which has some excellant camo illustrations. The Tiger from Leningrad has a sort of dark green, yellow speckled effect on a white base coat.

On the same page there is also one in the classic Grey camo from the area of Charkov May 1943.A plain Grey version would go down very well i think.

I'm not sure if they want to do a Tiger as the one they made a couple of years ago was very difficult and expensive.

Perhaps Figarti could produce a less complicated version of a 1/30 Tiger? As Guderian must have said somewhere along the line, "You can never have too many Tigers." -- lancer

It was difficult and expensive because it had a highly detailed interior which couldn't be seen unless the Turret top etc was removed. I nearly bought one but they are 1/32 scale and I couldn't see how a lidless tank would fit into my display.

Which is why I would like to have a Figarti Tiger I & II in 1/30 scale that doesn't have a detailed interior.

Yes,he might have said that at Kursk when numerous Tigers were knocked out by land mines.

Ozzy, I hope you get a new 1/30 scale Tiger one day from Rick. However, I need a pacific theater of operations marine corp flame throwing Sherman.

I agree OZ.....Figarti could have cut costs and difficulty by not doing so much interior detail on their 1:32 scale tigers.....I think it was an interesting concept and I did purchase the winter version but I think Figarti could produce a excellent 1:30 scale tiger which would be a VERY GOOD seller at a marketable price......Regards Vezzolf

Excellent idea, but I have a feeling not too many of us are going to love the price on a tiger or a King Tiger. The Lee/Grants are $280, Panzer $290, I hate to think what a king tiger will weigh in at.

This hobby has gone loco unfortunately due to economic and other factors. I understand the retired market very well, ie, there are only so many out there still in "play" (for sale), the numbers made were a lot smaller and to me, the retired market has the evolutionary appeal. BUT JEEZ, new prices are just out there and I am not blaming the companies, I guess they are what they are, I just think our hobby is going to shrink and my prediction is there will be 3 viable companies (good number of new releases each year) and a smattering of the older glossy British companies doing small number of releases each year (We have already seen this with Fusilier/Atkins, Tradition, RP World (Steadfast and Biggs), Dorset, Marlborough, etc.)

I of course could be proven wrong, but I just don't see how the number of new releases from the number of companies will be sustainable.

PS I think Figarti plays it right with their unique releases and the limited numbers. K&C and Britains have it down to customer loyalty and variety of lines.

Overall things have actually improved...the K&C wooden Tiger I bought back in '98 was, man, I'm forgetting...but it was somewhere in the $380-450 area

Hi,
please take no offense, but the wooden K&C products are truly limited and rare items. IMO, you really can't use them as a point of comparison to anything. I am not so sure that we will be looking back on today's items and calling them true rarities.

I would be interested in Figarti 1/30 Tiger 1 (Early) in various guises (panzer grey, desert, dunkelgelb and green, whitewash) and a Tiger II (Late - with Henschel turret) with no zimmerit and both a factory paint scheme and a whitewashed variant. I'm also interested in both Porsche and Henschel turreted Tiger IIs with zimmerit with field paint schemes for Normandy.

With the forthcoming Panzer IV Ausf.J as a benchmark I think these would be awesome.

HI Frank, can you post some pics for us?

The following 1/35 & 1/16 models are posted on Missing Lynx http://www.missing-lynx.com/ and Hyper Scale http://hyperscale.com/. I'll use these to display some of the Tigers I suggested above.

Here is a picture of a Tiger II with a Henschel turret and zimmerit having camouflage applied by a maintenance unit. Can you identify the mistake they've made?

Road wheels should not have patterns painted on them. The reason for this is when the wheels rotate the pattern becomes very noticable. The correct way to camouflage the road wheels is with solid colors. Either leave the wheel in the base color (Dunkelgelb) or paint the entire wheel with overlying camouflage color (brown or green).
