A very happy ST GEORGE'S day my friends!

And the Sun is shining on St George's day Neil.....who'd have thought!^&grin{bravo}}

Happy St George's day Rob!........well the sun was shining but has turned to rain again (every day since the hose pipe ban was announced)

Jeff

Well said Rob and if you think about it our forum is one of the few places you can state that today without it being banned.

"Cry God for Rob, England and St George" (with all due & reverent apologies to the Bard)

Thank you my friends:salute:::salute:: You are all gentleman and founding members of the Brit TF Bar brigade and as such comrades in arms lifting glasses!^&grin

We often speak generous words to our American friends on the 4th July or our Australian friends on Anzac day, but rarely blow our own trumpet that loud, but I suspect we know WE ROCK!^&grin:wink2:

Gentleman, we convene in just over 8 weeks time!

Congratulations on your big day lads!

Patriotism is too often the love that dare not speak its name.

Rule, Britannia!!

You Sir are another of the aforementioned gentleman and I sincerely hope you can make it across to London one of these rainy with sunny spells days and I will happily buy you a few in the bar....Vodka/Whisky/Gin of course....this beer lark takes too long to drink!:wink2:

Happy St. Georges day to you all. When I lived in Barcelona many years ago it was the Dia del San Jordi (Catalan for George) and it was celebrated.

What is the controversy about the holiday?

Thanks Brad:smile2:

Oh its some of the namby pamby pc brigade who think we shouldn't wave the flag as its nationalistic and agressive etc, colonial power, bla bla ad nauseum, to which the nation as a whole replies ' And the Horse you rode in on' ! If you get my drift mate:wink2: Some people really think we should not be so proud on this day because we once had the biggest Empire in the world (however long ago it now is). Bullspit to that and long live ST GEORGE

Was much the same when some years ago a European commissioner suggested we should change the names of Waterloo station and Trafalgar Square for fear of upsetting European friends. As you can imagine it went down like a scorpion in a pair of swimming trunks and was met with hails of laughter and the old Churchillian two finger salute (in reverse):wink2:

Come to think of it, the pc brigade are going to HATE this year then, The Jubillee, Olympics and Euro 2012 football, the Flags will be everywhere all summer!^&grin{bravo}}

He is an Englishman!
For he himself has said it,
And it's greatly to his credit,
That he is an Englishman!
Nothing wrong with being proud of one's country, it's history, or it's accomplishments. Happy St. George's Day to all. :smile2: -- Al

There'll always be an England,
And England shall be free,
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.

Rob mate,
I hope you personally had a great St. Georges Day. Don't worry about Simon and Geoff, they are big enough boys to look after themselves.:smile2:
ANZAC Day here tomorrow cobber. After the Dawn Service I might slip into a local boozer named
"The St.Georges Arms" and toast all my good Mother Country mates on this Forum.
Cheers from the Land Downunder, Howard

PS We still have proudly a Union Jack in our Flag.
