As if the horrific shootings in Vegas weren't bad enough, Tom Petty was found in full cardiac arrest at his home Sunday night, rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Have read a couple of reports claiming he's got no brain activity and was taken off of life support. THIS HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED, but several sources are reporting this.

What a horrible, terrible couple of days.

What a broken toilet of a world we live in.

just heard on the radio...it's official...he was a icon in the world of rock & roll...

That's sad. That leaves only Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan alive from the supergroup 'The Travelling Wilburys'. Roy Orbison, George Harrison, and now Tom Petty have all passed on. The world of music is poorer for it. RIP, Tom. -- Al

Saw him in concert several times, he never failed to put on a great show, he always was very humble and appreciative of the crowd reactions. Running down a dream, Into the great wide open, American Girl, You wreck me, Free falling, Don't come around here no more, on and on it goes, hit after hit.

Just terrible news, 66 is way too young.

Apparently he’s still alive but not expected to survive.

I feel the same way George, I always loved Tom Petty, thought he had a great sense of humor to match his great talent as a rocker, and, as you said, he was always humble and appreciative of his fans. I can't believe he is gone.

Really sad to hear of his passing today, 66yrs is way too young!

I know he was an American music legend, but he was also loved outside the US and will be sadly missed.

yup, this sucks. One reason my son plays While My Guitar Gently Weeps is due to Petty & Co. version at Rock HOF as a tribute to Harrison, it is the one that has the earth scorching Prince Solo in it too. Both huge losses. Loved Petty's music
