tomorrow D Day now the night before. (1 Viewer)

I wish I had the space and the means to add one of those magnificent C47's, preferably with a tow cable attached to my K&C Horsa Glider!

It's already D-Day (6th June) today in Australia, some terrific dioramas and displays guys.

You're not trying hard enough to fit one in mate.

Wayne,

I'll tell you what, you show me where it will fit in my Aerodrome Room, and I'll buy one . . . :salute::

Wow! {sm3}

That is one awesome collection, Louis!

Alex :smile2:^&cool

Thank you, Rob and Alex. :salute:: I have around 80 K&C Wood warbirds, roughly another 100 Heco Tinplate Models Aircraft, and one large Metal Shed WWI Hanley Page Bomber on display right now. Believe me, if I could squeeze a C47 in on display, I would, but you cannot even walk into the Aerodrome Room right now, the entire floor is a WWI diorama:

Hey Louis, looks like you've still got spare ceiling space to hang some more fighters etc, I'm sure those good old beams can carry the extra weight. The hard part would be getting across those trenches to do it :wink2:

I only hang Heco Tinplate Models, which are both light and sturdy. The much more delicate and heavy K&C mohagony and polystone aircraft that don't fit on the airfield itself, are diplayed on tables in the Aerodrome Room and on top of display cabinets in the main display room. Here you can see a number of Pacific Theater and Luftwafe fighter aircraft by K&C, as well as larger K&C aircraft, including a Junkers JU52, Heinkel HE111 and Blom & Voss BV-41, displayed with all of the original Fallschirmjager sets.

I do appreciate your space problem. I used to have over a hundred 1/72 and 1/48 scale diecast aircraft, long since sold on eBay etc. Now I only have Two aircraft models, one being Caldwells Spitfire made by Jenkins and the other is Lancaster S Sugar by Hachette that takes up a good amount of space in my lounge room. I was hoping to use the display unit as a coffee table but it proved to be too heavy to move due to the plate glass. Maybe I could fit some heavy duty castors, meanwhile it makes a handy side table to rest my Bourbon and Whisky drinks on.

As you can see my 1/32 Scale Lancaster S-Sugar is a Big Girl, over One Meter Wing span.

That's one hell of a collection. Nice!

Wow, Matt! That is a fantastic warbird, and I love the display inside the table!:salute::

Thanks Louis, I bought this on eBay last year from an ex Army guy that built it from parts that came with a Fortnightly Magazine. Most of the parts are made from plywood and the model is covered in thin Aluminium sheeting, the Propellers etc are all cast metal. Very similar look and construction to the actual aircraft. I calculated that the Magazines/Parts would have cost him over $1,000 and he said the plate glass for the table, which he made himself, cost about $400. I didn't pay that much but had to travel over Two hours to his house to pick it up. I paid him then tried to fit the table in my SUV. Nope.....the table was not going to fit, then we had to dismantle the table to get in the car, luckily he only used screws and no glue. He also made a model of Cook's 'Endeavour', did a great job on it, not sure what scale but the glass cabinet was about 2 Meters Long, and no, he wouldn't part with it. Don't know how I would have got that home anyway {eek3}

What a tremendously unique model! :salute:: It must be the pride of your collection.

It sure is, it was in my hobby room (converted single garage) with all the other models, but it took up too much space there. Now it's the first thing people see when they come in the front door, probably a bit Politically Incorrect for some visitors, but I'm past caring at my age.
