The Thunderbirds' radio code "F-A-B", meaning "message received and understood", did not stand for anything, it was just supposed to sound "hip". In fact, when asked what it stood for, Gerry Anderson once replied, with some bemusement, "Fab", as though it were obvious. Later, due in part to fan-submitted stories, F-A-B came to mean Fully Advised and Briefed, in keeping with P-W-O-R (Proceeding With Orders Received), a similar radio confirmation code in the Stingray series.

For me, Captain Scarlett was the better of the animated shows of that era.

Speaking of things that have bemused us for decades - The Flintstones. At the end of each episode, during the Credits, Fred puts Dino out the door. Dino then jumps through the window and puts Fred out the door! Fred bangs on the door, yelling for Wilma. Why didn't Fred jump through the window too? It was right there in front of him! As a little kid in the early 70s I just couldn't understand why Fred didn't go through the window himself!

Another piece of the Larso jigsaw falls into place. The 70s must have rocked at your house!

I vote for Scooby Doo - Daphne was quite the hottie!

Nostalgia plays a big part when choosing my favourite TV shows but of the more recent offerings it has to be Forbrydelsen (The Killing). Not the appalling American remake, the original Danish version.

The first series was all about the journey and the second was all about action. The Scandinavians are far better at developing an engaging drama than either their UK or American counterparts and no hideous over-acting, so prevalent in US and UK based dramas.

I loved Broen (The Bridge) too. A Swedish/Danish offering recently aired in the UK. The character Saga is fantastic. If you haven't watched it then please do, and I defy anyone not to fall in love with the social cripple that is Saga.

Having said that, the best UK crime drama I have seen for a few years is Luther. It's a bit quirky and slightly left of centre. A good watch.

:)^&grin^&grin I think I have the answer. Had Fred jumped through the window, he might have been perceived as a possible threat (ie., burglar, housebreaker) and Dino would have gone into 'guard dog' mode and possibly chewed Fred's leg off. If not that, then Wilma certainly would have splattered him with the Remington 870. Going through the window was just too risky, even in those days. Just my opinion, of course. -- Al
