Hello fellas:
First of all, thanks for the kind sympathies for my son. Please note it is my 11 year old who has been ill and why I missed WW2 weekend this weekend

. My littlest one, Andrew, my 17 month old is the one who keeps me up and actually, looking at it now, it is probably a good thing as he just cries for more milk at night. He is on a tremendous growth spurt and I think his metabolism makes him need to eat every 4 hours. He was almost readmitted to the hospital because he wasn't gaining weight there a month or so after he was born. The doctor said he predicted he would grow to 5'10". My wife said I had this look on my face like Andrew was broken or something- we are all 6 footers or more here in my family
So yeah Pat, he may be that 6'5" mighty man.
The battle donkey corps will have to move to the Top Ten tanks as they would be too aggressive for our transport battalion
Okay- well Pat, you suggested cutting it to 3. It's interesting that you should choose 3 as there are 3 ways to transport men and material- land, sea or air. I think we can clearly say, for WW2 that the allies dominated all three modes of the logistics train which I believe significantly improved our odds. On the sea, we have the Liberty ships, in the air, the Dakotas and on the ground, the deuces. So, if I had to cut it down to one, well, the Liberty takes the cake. The allies were on the offensive in all theaters of the war- the Liberty ships were the first cog in the line and got the troops, LCVs, Amtraks, Deuces, etc to the fight. Looking at it from the Axis perspective, in 1944, they were in a defensive posture so to pick the equivalent of a Liberty Ship as their most important workhorse might not work. I believe, for the Germans especially, that a solid truck transport would have been their most important logistical machine so perhaps the krupp or Blitz would have been theirs. My point is, it really depends on what your forces are doing to pick a top dog in logistics and by examining the allies, I feel the Liberty was the "Top Horse" if you will.
So yeah, Shiloh probably got it right earlier on when he mentioned that the Germans can't win wars because they mess up the logistics train. Made some of the best tanks, infantry weapons and fighters but seemed to be lacking in the logistics fight.
