I concur completely about Wallach and the Good, Bad and Ugly and as already noted Open Range.;)

The Searchers (with John Wayne) and Soldier Blue (with Peter Strauss and Candice Bergen) are my all time favorites! :)

Don't know if these have been listed. "The Professionals" with Lancaster and Marvin; "The Long Riders"; "Lonesome Dove", an absolute classic; "Once Upon A Time In The West" with Bronson, Fonda, Robards. Fonda's bad guy is maybe THE bad guy of all time. All great films. -- lancer

No one has listed the magnificent Randolph Scott and such shows as "Ride The High Country" and "The Tall T". Also "Hour of the Gun" with James Garner. So mant great westerns...

In no particular order;

Magnificent 7

The good, the bad and the ugly

Outlaw Josey Wales

Pale rider

Sons of Katie Elder

True Grit

Fistfull of Dollars

Gun fight at the OK corral

High Noon

Rio Bravo.

Love them all.And although its an ACW film not strictly a Western can I mention Red Badge of courage too!

It has got to be Carry on Cowboy ... Sid james was awesome ;););)

Seriously, I liked Magnificent 7 (great soundtrack); all the Spaghetti westerns with Clint and the Wild Bunch.

Does anybody remember a movie called Night of the Grizzly with Clint Walker?

My list of Westerns in random order:

1. The Quick and the Dead

2. Wyatt Earp

3. Unforgiven

4. Hang 'Em High

5. Pale Rider

6. Outlaw Josey Wales

7. Gun Fight at the O.K. Corral

8. High Noon

9. Appalosa

10. Open Range

These probably wouldn't make too many other peoples top 10 list due to their lighthearted nature, but I love Big Jack and McClintock.

Also, the end of the pre-title scene in Cahill U.S. Marshall where he takes on 5 guys is my favorite moment in any Western.

Cahill: Any of you wanna surrender?

Ben: Now what did you say?

Cahill: I said 'any of you wanna surrender.'

Ben: I'll say one thing for you J.D., you got style. Yes, sir. You got style.

If I could include Australian Westerns I would have added Quigley Downunder high on my list. Great acting, scenery, music, classic western scenes and one of the best gunfight showdowns I have ever seen.
"This ain't Dodge City. And you ain't Bill Hickok."
.......
"I said I never had much use for one. Never said I didn't know how to use it."
Many more classic lines and scenes.:D:D

I don't believe no one has said Shennandoah with James Stewart.I no alittle civil war thing but it has horses. And what about Smiley gets a riffle or the Sundowners.Simmo.
