Hi guy's I was looking over my collection of toy soldiers and have come to the conclusion there is a reason why my collection is made up of 95% of K&C. They are really really good. I have small collections of Three more makers and love them aswell but I do like the K&C style. There is so much to choose from it makes you go mad sometimes but in a good way. My question is why have you choosen K&C as your main toy soldier company of choice. Simmo.{sm2}

For me they were the first I saw and just liked them also they were the only company offering Australian figures eg; The Light Horse. As well most of the 8th Army are easy to change to Aussies,
now that I am hooked I want more.

For me it was their BoB range of figures that did it . It was also my first purchase . Still is my favourite range today.
I add a picture of my first ever dio using K&C ( before I was working with plastic model kits 1/35 scale)
guy:)

I got a Toy Soldier and Model Figure magazine (just randomly saw it and thought 'I see army men') from the shop at the bottom of my road when I was six or seven and there was the Krupp truck and anti aircraft gun on the back cover as king and country used to always have the back page cvered in their products which I loved!^&grin Never had a computer with internet back then so my mum took me to my neighbours and after several visits I decided I wanted to get a set, so I picked DD33 - American 3rd Infantry 4 Man Attack Patrol, but my amazing Granny (Spoiling me then as she still does now!^&grin) suggested I get some Germans to fight against them, so I got WSS something, was 4 German Wermacht figures, 1 firing rifle, 1 lying prone firing machine gun, 1 officer with binoculars and one advancing while reloading!^&grin Then my mum wanted to ge me a set too, so I got 'Flank Attack' - the 82nd airborne set. Of all the sets, 5 figures have survived these almost 12 years, 3 from DD33 (However I managed ti pick up this set again!:wink2:) 1 from the german set, and one from the flank attack set!^&grin

I came in the back door so to speak....{sm5} back in the late 90's the internet introduced me again to plastic TS and before I knew it i was reliving my childhood all over again, only this time I had more than my pocket money to buy what I couldn't afford as a youngster^&grin

For me it was a natural progression to move to metal figures, especially after seeing the K&C ads on the back of the TS and Model Figure magazine around 2001.....hehe it was love at first sight, however the pocket said NO at that time, so I didn't actually buy a K&C set till around 2004{sm4} Still stuggle like heck to afford them, but it's well worth it.

As to why I love'm, the poses, the animation, the colours, buildings, vehicles etc all add to what is a fantastic product. I should also mention the Collector newsletters and regular leaflets shouldn't be forgotten either, they help keep the fire's burning{eek3}

Plus you can tell Andy, Gordon and the K&C team are passonate about what they do and even though its a business, you can tell they love the hobbie as much as we do{sm3}

Cheers Toddy

K&C figures and vehicles got me hooked not to mention the huge range that they have brought out and continue to bring out. I also collect CS, TG, Figarti, a couple each of HB and FL vehicles and im very happy with them, but you can't beat the overall quality and quantity of K&C figures and vehicles.

A close family friend owns the Old Toy Soldier Home in San Diego, CA. One day I stopped by just to look around, and ended up walking away $20 poorer but with the first AWI piece in my collection.

Best Regards,
Mike

I blame one person for my K&C addiction , he is one of the real gentleman of this hobby Mr Mike Neville. Many many years back whilst on my regular foray into the London shows to purchase Toy Army Workshop items I would stop and look at Mikes K&C table. Each time I did he would always tell me about the different items he had and always took time to talk when in those days many stallholders were like ' If you're not buying, keep moving ' or ' don't touch, don't touch' etc etc. It only took a couple of visits to realise I wanted in and that was it I was hooked. From the days when it was either US or German items until the last few years when we've seen loads of British releases K&C have for me been front and center ahead of the competition, there has always been something about their style of figure that for me makes them very addictive . I enjoy collecting K&C products today as much as I did back then, every month I still look forward to Dispatches and the London shows, its a great hobby this one.:smile2:

Thanks Mike!^&grin

I often wonder if I love Toy Soldiers because of my love of American Revolution History or do I love the history due to the Toy Soldiers. I can’t come up with a definitive answer for that. But it is easy to answer why K&C. There is no other TS maker that offers me the wide selection of figures, the quality and the price point.

I do own some Conte AWI and enjoy them very much. But the series shows no sign of ever being expanded. The quality is good but not even close to K&C while the price is close to what K&C goes for.

First Legion is wonderfully detailed and the sculpting is fantastic. Plus FL does offer a few poses and causalities that K&C doesn’t. However, I can’t build up a large army at the current cost of a FL figure which is $50 to $70 or $120 for a mounted figure. The latest K&C are $32 to $45 and $70 for a mounted Officer

W. Britains AWI are also a great choice and I would consider those if K&C should ever decide to end the AWI series. However the older Britains classic set are pricy and rare while the new AWI are very limited and just do not get my interests up to high.

So K&C it is, I just wish that it wasn’t so long between releases ( ~18 months!!!!)

I started buying toy soldiers or metal military miniatures and some non military sets in late 1991. By early 1993 I purchased my first K&C sets (Grenadier Guards of the 1885 era Sudan War). But I was still mainly into Alymer & Trophy Miniatures. I also got a bunch of Frontline Figures in circa 1997. But by 2000 I went with K&C at 95 to 99% of the time to date. And since about 2003 I have noticed that they figures have really become very realistic in every way. They just seem like the best overall.

My Grandad got me into collecting at a early age just Britains glossys really, after he died I really got into researching his millitary history which led me down the WW2 path & you guys with your great photos on here maybe me choose K&C! They really are the best company for different WW2 ranges to choose from & I love there style more then the other companys that offer it!
