Toy Soldiers by Mark Time Figures (1 Viewer)

The current issue of Toy Soldier Collector magazine (August/September 07 Issue 17) has a two-page article on Mark Time Models. There are photos from 13 sets the author has in his collection. I bought the Cameron Highlanders, 1900, set years ago at the Chicago Show, but subsequently sold it. You will note how dark the khaki is. Several of the Mark Time sets shown were later improved upon (IMO) and produced by Peter Cowan as Kingcast. Cowan's later Kingcast sculpting is not as basic as his early Mark Time figures tended to be.

I recently purchased a Kingcast Heavy Howitzer and (home service) crew on Ebay. Having had both Steadfast and Marktime sets in my collection, I can see the similarities in the sculpting of the crew, which are actually (in stature and "build") compatible with prewar Britains ! I have this artillery set together with a boxed set of the 1915-20 Britains Royal Marine Artillery, along with a General Service Wagon, the Marktime Middlesex Bicycle Corps and a few other assorted singles in an " Aldershot 1900" diorama -

Didn't the Sirdar use a couple of these big guns to bombard the Mahdi's tomb inside Omdurman ??

have a couple of Marktime my favorite is a a heavy gun with Boer war era khaki clad crew. Last fall a member named Annabel advertised her dads collection for sale. It included some Marktime pieces. I believe she still has some.

Some of my alltime favorite sets are the Engineers Observation Balloon and the Winch set. Have them both and love them.
