Trees that Enhance King & Country Displays (1 Viewer)

I was looking at one of the threads in the forum (can not remember which one) from around April. The tread was short and discussed the best trees to use in displaying K&C. While woodland scenics make a good tree I have been using a couple of sources for my diorama. I have over 200 trees ranging from oaks to spruce to cherry trees. I have used JG miniatures but I find them very costly compared to these two sources. The first, Architrees Scaled Scenery Store (Home > eBay Stores > Architrees Scaled Scenery Store > All Categories) on eBay is run by a guy who imports them from the Phillipines. They are cost effective and look very real. I buy the G scale (an oak tree at 8 inches costs about $20 compared to JG Miniatures at $120). The other source is JTT & Partners, web address: www.jttmicroscale.com Their web site is very well done and has great pictures. The trees, like Architrees, are very affordable compared to others and they have a wide range of types and sizes.

Pete and Shannon, you may wish to contact them as they have dealer information on the web sites first page.

I spend a great deal of time searching and researching diorama materials and have found that these two have what I need. As soon as I get a digital camera I will post my toys. It is 24 foot by 8 foot. I have an 8 foot long cliff made up of JG Miniatures scenic pieces, a river, a forest, a Normandy farm complex with about 8 JG Miniature buildings, 8 foot of conte dragons teeth tank traps, and a village (French/German boarder) with all of the K&C Normandy Village pieces, six conte buildings, and now 2 of the new K&C tenant buildings set up as one ruin. I have detailed each building with destroyed furniture, water pipes, rugs, debris from Build-a-rama, etc. I have used 300 K&C sets (DD on one side of the set-up and WS on the other), 30 FOV tanks and vehicles, 18 Britians tanks and half-tracks and 2-21st Century aircraft suspended from the ceiling. I have used so much diorama material and have recieved so many K&C packages that the UPS drivers in my small Minnesota town have awarded me the place with the most deliverys over the past three years. The post man doesn't even bother to delivery at my home. He just brings everything to my office so that he can see me open it.

That diorama must be fantastic. Yes, please post pictures.

You can't see this but I am bowing on my knees to you. This sounds more like something that should be in a museum.I can't wait to see pic's of this battlefield monstrocity.3 yrs in the making.Wow!!!
Thanks for the info on the trees.I will certainly check it out.Sounds like your another K&C retirement plan donor for Andy with over three hundred sets. :D

Thanks for the complements, even though unseen yet. I first started using K&C figures as investment holdings, put in closet, never touched, never seen. Then, the 2nd grader came home and I realized that unseen and untouched was driving me nuts. I am very into technolgy. I am a county economic developer (help businesses find financing, write business plans, etc.) and I started our part of the state's first internet service provider in 1992. But, I still don't have a digital camera, go figure. I hope the info on the trees is helpful. I have come to realize that this passion we share is so cool

The trees look excellent. I went on the web site and it seems they only sell to dealers or will they sell to individuals? What is the shipping like? Please send pics of your collection!!

Cheers
Wellington

Yes, they do sell to everyone. I go to the menu on the left side of the site, select the first item JTT trees and go to their listing. Click on anyone of the trees and you will find a description. Go toward the bottom of the page and you will find a shopping cart selection for the various sizes of each tree. Check out is very easy, I use my bank checking account card.

Sceic2,from the JTT website of the Econo snow pine trees what scale do you use for K&C sets. Also do the trees have bases for free standing or do you have to mount them into a base diorama board? Your right about the price and they do look great.
Yeah well I just finally purchased a digital camera and a cell phone. It was a big year for me... :D

I almost always buy the largest tree they offer, unless I am building a grouping. A natural grouping has various sizes from new to dead. Mine came without a base. So, hand me my drill and I swiss cheese the base until I find the best place. I fit the trunk to a just a bit smaller bit so that it fits tightly. S&O scale work well. I use the first directory link mostly as I want more realistic trees so I am willing to spend a few more dollars on each, but thats my own personal and financial problem. Having an empty nest, I raised three kids by my self for 13 years, has left me with pent-up demands for spending on me. When my youngest graduated in 1999, I bought myself 10 pair of shoes just because I had gone so long with only buying them shoes. After that I bought more toys. Haven't stopped since.

Those do look very nice.

I think I'll contact them for my shop.

I currently have some JG palm trees mixed in the K&C Egyptian series. THe one thing I will say in defense of JG is that his trees seem more "full". The price can be prohibitive though, I agree.

Thanks for the link.
