I'm planning a trip to Williamsburg, VA in March 2025, and I'm looking for suggestions. I'll be staying at a hotel in Williamsburg with complimentary breakfast. Here's my rough plan:
  1. driving from Petawawa, Ontario 8 March (~12hrs drive)
  2. visiting Colonial Williamsburg 9-10 March
  3. visiting Jamestown Settlement 11 March
  4. visiting American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and Yorktown Battlefield 12 March
  5. visiting Petersburg National Battlefield 13 March
  6. visiting Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park 14 March
  7. return home 15 March
Are there any other historic sites I should visit or restaurants I should eat at?

Mount Vernon, G Washington's home on the Potomac, is very close to Williamsburg and a "must see."

Enjoy the trip, I've been many times and always enjoy the places you listed.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's on the list!

I agree that if you can add Mount Vernon to your list of places to visit you should do it! Ericka and I were just there a couple of weeks ago after visiting Williamsburg and the new U.S. Army Museum at Fort Belvoir…which is only a short distance from Mount Vernon!

While in Colonial Williamsburg you should eat in the three taverns there. They serve lunch and dinner, you'll need reservations for dinner. The atmosphere is great and the period style menu very good.

Not sure how much extra time you have but the US Marine museum at Quantico, VA is not far and worth a visit.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to tag on an extra night of travel to visit the Marine and Army museums as well as Mount Vernon.
