Maybe you can ask him if he will get around to making Trophy or what he plans to do there. I'm not holding my breath.

He bought Trophy in order to make sure the entire range stayed together (there was a number of people that wanted to break it up) , it's up to himself what he dose with it now, but you could always ask him if you're serious about it.

You can't be serious, at least I hope not. The question has been posed (repeatedly, to my knowledge), without an answer.

And yet you ask again, does that not tell you something? Trophy is not my concern and this isn't the Trophy thread, but I did my best to answer what you asked. I was originally trying to answer a question about the Heritage range which is my concern!

Isn't that the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result (although I didn't say that I had done that repeatedly). However, what does it say about Ken Jackson? :rolleyes2:

There are things I have been told in confidence that I will not repeat here. What I can say again is that Ken bought at considerable expense the entire Trophy range. That is rights, moulds, masters, paints, machines, paper work. In fact if it wasn't part of the factor building it was moved to North Yorkshire. This was done in order to keep the range together. It is now stored in buildings that Ken had especially built for the purpose. If he had not done this then the only other possible purchasers wanted to break up the seprate ranges.

Apparently there are people who say they want Trophy figures on here but there are also people on here who believe that if they aren't made by Len Taylor they aren't Trophy! (personally I think the same mould spun on the same machine with the same metal, then painted by the same person with the same paint is a Trophy figure) So what to do contact Ken and tell him what you would actually like to buy, or sit back in the hopes that Ken will produce every last figure so that you can pick what you want. Your choice.

Re: Heritage/ Maison Militaire website

I agree with you that this is not the best place to discuss Trophy and since I brought it up, my apologies to all.

That being said, however, I would think it odd for me or other collectors to contact Ken and say can you please make such and such. It would probably make more sense for a manufacturer to take the pulse of the hobby and solicit collectors' advice (which can be unreliable) or decide that they will re-introduce one of the lines. Since Zulu was one of the more popular lines (although I don't collect Trophy Zulu), perhaps dipping his toe into the waters with a few issues would make more sense. If it sells, great, if it doesn't, well, then you don't need to make any more and that's that.

However, I think collectors are waiting for an indication and I don't think we've seen that.

Re: Heritage/ Maison Militaire website

My opinion is that Trophy's time "has come and gone".
While they are still among my favorite makers and actually brought me back into the hobby in the early eighties
today their scarcity and history drives their value. They were and still are a wonderfully sculpted, painted and
incredibly diversified maker but the industry and collector's preferences have moved on.
Sure, some will still buy newly produced "Trophy" figures but the aura and special history will be diminished.
New "glossies" such as Little Legion, Somerset, Tedtoy, ATS and Tommy Atkins have their niche. I believe,
however, that the mainstream prefers the more realistic and matt finish products provided by K&C, FL, TCS,
Figarti, TGM and Britains.
Perhaps a limited line covering a few periods such as the Sudan and Zulus might perk up some interest.
I just would not want to see the Trophy "brand" compromised and commoditised.

Let me make it clear that I'm not involved with Trophy at all, so this is just my opinion. I think you have seen an indication, it's not Ken on here talking about Trophy. He has and is producing parts of the range e.g. the WW1 bus. Why? because enough people wanted one to make it worth while. There is some expense involved in getting a range up and running, even one where the master figures are made. For one thing not all of the moulds will be fit for use, so have to be replaced. Figures have to be painted, that has to be paid for. Boxes need to be bought, in quantities. All to "dip a toe" find out whether anyone wants them. Would you?

Okay - I have just sent off an e-mail to Ken - asking about availability of two items

The Hancocks Brewery Dray - and The Pony Express Rider.

I also advised him that I can paint a bit - so IF painting is a problem - unpainted castings would do nicely.

If anyone else wants either of the two pieces - then maybe NOW is the time to ask, as if he gets a number of requests - then maybe casting up some of these items will become more likely.

I'll let you know how I get on. Johnnybach

Just to let everyone know - I have received an answer to my e-mail from Ken, at Trophy in Scarborough.

He confirmed that he was currently involved in working on a large Trophy commission for a client.

He further advised ( as I suspected) that it is frequently difficult to cast up individual figures fro customers - especially ones like the Hancocks Dray - where pieces from several different moulds would be required to complete it. However, individual pieces - such as the Pony Express Rider, would be easier - and he would bear this (and me) in mind, should time allow at some point in the future.

He also confirmed (sadly), that he doesn't supply unpainted castings. No surpises there - but if you don't ask.................!

So..............never say never. He is listening - and gave me a straight answer. I think that IF anyone is also interested in either of the two items I asked about (or any other Trophy figure, for that matter), - NOW may be a good time to send off an e-mail. Here's the link: - address it to Ken.

Do you think he might really be willing to make an order of 120 french imperial garde advancing. I have always wanted a second column to go with my first. I just love trophy. I wish he could get len to sculpt some regular french line infantry advancing with their muskets held straight up or on their shoulders. Or a few french kneeling. I just would hope he could get len to scuplt a few poses not done that should have been and then they could still sell the new poses as trophy and the old poses would keep their value. Just an idea. What do ya think brad?

How do we contact ken? Did a search cant find anything...???

It would be "interesting" to know what happened to TROPHY finally and if the toolings still exist.

Where are they now?

After being sold three tons of uter **** and CRAP by the N Z Simons, (the old Fleurbaix stuff) I might be interested in buying SOME though certainly NOT "all" the former Trophy Moulds.

In act I ALREADY HAVE several which were among Jock Coutts stuff we did get SOME (and i say some) from the Kaputniks in New Zealand.

I have absolutely got the Camel Riders, Sudanese Infantry and Egyptian Infantry in several poses, and some lancers too.
The Infantry we have in Fez, go for around 120 on E Bay "painted" right now for a set of six to eight pieces in Gloss of course not Matt or Satin finish.

Of course, if the "real who dunnit" steps forward or stands up, I am happy to sell those TROPHY Moulds for a significantly high price to them....without "negotiation". Smile
