trophy on ebay (5 Viewers)

Good points....
I once told my son (maybe he was 12 at the time) that my collection would be his one day. His reply was simple and to the point, "how much are they worth?"
Today at 26 he appreciates my collection but would still sell most of it.
At his age buying a home or starting a business are much more important than a hobby.

Hey my daughter ( aged 7) said she would give my Nile Steamer to her husband. Now that would make me apoplectic.

I'm curious...has Andy ever did something that he said in the past he would never do again?

I can't specifically think of anything. I did ask him if he went back to glossy, what would the era be and I believe he said 1880 to 1910. That was this year at Chicago, I think that is what he said, but he gave no indication of what theater, etc. Also, my own opinion, I wouldn't bet on him doing it.

Now is there any truth to the rumor that kc was buying the trophy molds

I guess i might be dreaming aliitle but wouldn'that be something. The two greatest toy soldiers companies under one roof.

I personally do not believe it, it would be a step down for them .. after all they already tried to make Trophy look alikes many years ago:D
Well... "History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce"....

This auction, three mounted figures being offered by groovychick, just sold for $605 or 387 GBP. A little expensive for me but a beautiful set for whoever acquired it. I suppose $200 a horse is a little high but not crazy, crazy. Anyway, congrats to whoever did purchase it :)

Well Brad, thank you for being "politically correct" but $200 for a horse: it's expensive not only for you :D I wonder what is "crazy" expensive now-days? $400 per horse and then the sky is the limit... I can commission amazing mounted piece painted by a grandmaster for $200 :)... please do not get me wrong if Trophy's price increase continues I will start selling my Trophys right from the self! When I can find these horses I pay around $75 which makes usually a buyer and a seller extremely happy :D

The only reason I said it wasn't completely crazy Al because I've seen K & C glossy Camels go for over $200 so that's point my reference. Now, I didn't pay that $200 plus mind you ;)

I've only been really watching Trophy prices for a few weeks and have to say I'm impressed by the prices sellers are getting. Guess now is the time to sell :)

Gotta agree with Brad that is quite a price for the three 21 st Lancers.

It's no more crazy than the guy who posses them and prefers not to sell them because he can't believe people are paying that much:rolleyes: The high rollers are out to play!!!

Re: trophy on ebay - Big Money for WA4!

Recently closed on E-Bay: TROPHY NAPOLEONIC BRITISH INF KNEELING FIRING #WA4 MIB

US $676.66

What am I missing? That seems an insane price, not that I would be unhappy to get it for that set myself. :) I've been away from collecting for a bit so perhaps that explains it.

Cheers,
~Dan

Dan, No explanation needed : just two egos collided over a plain and not really scarce set IMHO.

That is quite a price.
Could you post a. Link to the result
Trophy Napoleonics seem to be catching up with the Zulu and Sudan stuff

Damian,
I agree, Napoleonic Trophy seems to be becoming desirable alright. If you want to beat that one particular bidder, the prices get a bit nuts. I have bid against him and always lose. My only consolation is that I have cost him hundreds of dollars. ;)

The only Trophy line that seems to languish a bit is the ACW. All the others are getting snapped up. I am not sure what is happening with the WWI stuff.

Makes me rather glad I didn't "thin" my Trophy collection a few years back. I'd probably be kicking myself right about now. Too bad, I also always seem to find a reason to hold on to most of my sets as well. :) Does make one think though.
Cheers,
~Dan
