Trophy steam boat (1 Viewer)

The JFK funeral cortege is a fantastic set:

I've never seen this before, nor heard of "STE, Ltd." Unfortunately, though she included a picture of the stamp on the underside of one of the bases, it is tantalizingly indistinct. The sculptor/maker's signature is reproduced in relief under the base, and it looks like the "S" in "STE" is for "Steven", but I can't make out his last name, from the picture. The seller included a lot of detail in her description, but not that specific detail.

I'll have to look it up.

Prosit!
Brad

STE was an American company marketed by pageantry productions out of California. Could not find out more about them.

A friend of mine, who used to be a dealer in Chester, NJ had this in his shop. Don't know what happened to it however.

ANy idea how much these two boats went for in the end?
Regards
Damian

That JFK Funeral procession set is really cool. If I did use e bay I would consider bidding. She says 1000 were made. That is quite a large number of sets especially for the time ( You know the days before K and C and Chinese manufacturing). I ma surpirsed that I have not seen or heard about this particular set before.

I sent the seller a message through eBay, to ask if she could read the signature on the base, but she said she can't make out the last name.

I'm curious to know if the sculptor might still be active.

Prosit!

Perhaps Norman Joplin has heard of this manufacturer. I have several books on the "New Old Toy Soldiers" and do not remember seeing a reference to this manufacturer.

I think the number of sets might be about in line with contemporary sets by some of the larger, "manufactured collectibles" makers, like the Franklin Mint. They were "limited" enough to claim them as limited issue, but in reality, there were probably enough to cover the market.

Prost!

I've seen a funeral display done for Princess Diana also. I somehow can't find the site that it was on :( Wonder if it was the same company?

Re the JFK set, I'm here with my friend and he has the molds. STE is Steve Tofano Enterprises Ltd. and he lives in Long Island. His partner was in California. 250 were made. If anyone has any interest in having one made, let me know.

Guys,
There's another Trophy Nile Steamer on ebay starting at $900. Comes with an additional group of , looks like, Marines. Looks beautiful. Anyone looking to get into the loanshark business? Mike

You can't find a loan shark in New Jersey ? Should be easier than finding a steam boat

The loanshark is for buying food and gas after this Trophy Steamer goes to the highest bidder! They are found closer to coastal areas so I don't spot a lot of them, just bears trying to eat my garbage. Mike

Do you have the ebay # for this item? I can't afford it I just want to see if there is a larger image and perhaps more details.

Mike:
Have you seen John Jenkins African Gunboat at $72 (kit)--no figures or accessories, 28 mm scale? It looks easy to build--instructions on John's site and sources for figures and guns.

Randy,
This is the first I've seen it. It looks wonderful. However, I am allergic to 28(anything other than 54mm)mm and will break out in hives if I get near them. Great little boat though. Mike
