I have taken the photos for this thread as they provide an excellent basis for a comparison of the two long retired Tigers from Collectors Showcase and King & Country.

That TCS Winter Tiger is the best one they ever made IMO. When I had it it was the favorite of my collection. Just a great paint job and all around nice looking Tiger.

I have the Arnham Tiger I; one of three iterations of the first Tiger I's released by TSC. These are the best Tiger I's TSC has made; accurate 1/30th scale, 3 very well done figures correctly scaled to the Panzer and excellent paint and decals. Correct me if I am wrong; but I believe they were released in 2008. The later TSC Tiger I releases were 1/28 scale as shown in the photos, it is much larger than the 1/30 scale K&C Kursk Tiger I. The later releases did not have the level of detail of the first release IMHO.

Nice pictures. I have to be a little careful here with manufacturer names. I have to say that I did not like the TCS Tiger I depicted on many levels. They were too big 1/28th did not and does not work for me in a 1/30th scale hobby. The winter paint was not very good and the Zimm was exceptionally thick and looked ill at ease on the model. The decals were poorly adhered and using slide decals over Zimm is a recipe for disaster IMO. It would have been a little more time consuming, but worth it, to have used dry rub transfers to fold into the Zimm.

The other the Kursk Tiger for me was very good and I ended up with five which, I have over the years shown in various repaints and conversions. The only issue I had was the front drive sprocket was not painted black and left dunkelgelb. however, that fortunately for me was an easy job to define. This was a really decent model of the Das Reich Tigers for Kursk.

I would always choose the Kursk tiger over the TCS Tiger as it was a better representation of the Tiger

The TSC Tiger I better fits with the 1/27th scale figures from TSC, K&C, Thomas Gunn et. al. The Armor and figures should be the same scale to be realistic. Figures and armor of different scales are toys; like the bag of little green men and a much smaller scale tank or armored car. A fun toy when you are 8 years old and the bag of soldiers costs 59 cents! When you are paying $200.00 for a Panzer and $35.00 per figure I want scale accuracy and a high level of detail. I buy 1/24 scale RC armor for 50% of the cost of polystone/resin armor with superior detail i.e. articulated tracks, working suspension. accurate colors and camo patterns etc. Plus the 1/27 scale figures look better with the 1/24 scale armor than with the 1/30 scale. A small figure is less noticable than a too large figure with an armored vehicle. I posted photos of the comparison not too far upthread. Annother member posted excellent photos of 1/27 figures from different Toy Soldier makers with 1/24 Scale Diecast cars and the diorama was very realistic.
The increase in size of figures has moved them into the area of compatability with a vast array of 1/24 scale vehicles that are very well made and accurate. They are mass produced in many cases and thus inexpensive. The result over time will sound the death knell of 1/30 scale vehicles; since the very fine 1/27/68MM figures will work as well if not better with the range of 1/25/24 scale vehicles. Certainly an unintended consequence of the increasing size of figures; which I believe was originally intended as an effort to distinguish them from competition with the well established 1/32/54MM figures and armor from Britains and Unimax. A certain Toy Soldier manufacturer of international repute is already offering injection molded plastic 1/30 scale models. The demise of 1/30 armor as started as evidensed by the slow down in new products from many makers, not to mention lesser quality. I just hope the WW II figures continue!

Think both tiger would look poor next to Figarti latest Tiger to be honest

Mitch; it is no longer a 1/30 scale hobby when the figures from most of the Toy Soldier makers are 1/27 scale or 68MM on average. Only First Legion remains as a true 1/30 scale or 60MM Toy Soldier maker. I do agree that the level of detail and quality of execution on the 1/28 scale TSC Tiger I is vastly inferior to their original true 1/30 scale Tiger I in 2008; which is superior to the Kursk/Winter/Afrika Tiger IMHO! Even Figarti's latest figures are oversize i.e. the Panzer Kommander of the Figarti Panther G measures 66MM high! The closest to 1/30 scale these days is 1/32. Britains figures and Unimax armor if 1/28 is too large.

Figarti cut a lot of corners to meet the low price point especially compared to the Panther G. The hatch handles and other small details are missing. About the same level of detail as a Minichamps Tiger I at greater cost. I prefer the Minichamps with a working suspension and metal articulated tracks.

I thought we were talking 1/30 Tiger tanks ?I had all the Miinichamps armour and no way could you use them with 1/30 armour are they 1/35 scale ? I have both Figarti Tigers and 222 is the pick of the bunch

I was using the Minichamps Tiger I as an example of equivalent quality. I was not implying it was the same size as 1/30 scale.
You are correct the Minichamps Tiger I is 1/35 scale. My point was that the Figarti Tiger I is inferior in quality to the Panther G. Sorry if I confused the issue with an inept comparison,

I have the figarti Tiger 222 and Panther and think there both look good together
