This is not good. Getting a broken figure to replace a broken original is just sad. I hope FL does something for you. I've held off on ordering because of this.

That's not good my friend. Am just about to order final three figures with some trepidation.

And as if by magic, my newly collected kettle drummer turns up Wingless.

Another example of worst in class packaging from First Legion.

I now have to pay for the return to Treefrog in the USA all the way from Hong Kong.

Will First Legion be re-imbursing me for this cost?

They may... First Legion should reimburse them, just because of the way these are getting packaged. They can not make the excuse that it getting shipped internationally ,that it got broken. It's happening here too in the U.S. I got the two standard bearers, and that is it so far. Hearing about all this pieces getting broken turned me off, from buying more. They are great looking pieces, but not worth the worry and trouble....
And FL not responding, to these QC problems is not good sign for the company's reputation....

After receiving second broken from my european dealer I gave up.
If I have to send back to US and receive new package from US I may even have to pay tax and customs - depends what value is put in CN22.
And who knows if new one will arrive in one piece?

I don't want to stop anybody from buying winged hussars, seems that problem is only with kettle drummer.
But I don't understand why FL didn't stop selling it before fixing problem as it is known already from some time.
After many years experience with winged hussars I can say problems with (not removable) wings indeed sometims happens, but here problem is mainly with wrong packing.

My experience with First Legion products is that they do package their pieces tightly. Which is kinda nice to a certain degree. So removable wings with a tab to put it in a hole in a figure would seem to be the answer, I believe us collectors would not mind spending money on glue, where the alternative is the chance of a broken piece...
In seeing the kettle piece, it is another great looking piece.. it's a Shame that it has problems...

Mine was broken in same place, clean break.
Superglued it by putting a small dab on wing piece (one surface only) and holding it in place for 15 seconds or so.
You'd never know now.

Try it and if you don't like the result then return.

Just like everyone else, I do not like to buy something and then have to try and make a repair.
In some cases I will make an attempt to repair if it seems easy and logical.

There's no way I'm attempting to fix this - if I bought something in a local store and it was broken, I wouldn't say, "Let me just see if I can fix this".

I fully understand that modellers and the like may be happy to do this, but I could not. Every time I looked at it id know it was broken 🤕🤕🤕

Let me jump in here and both try to resolve this situation as well as clarify a few things.

First, both Janusz and Vicknor, I do understand your frustration with this piece. However, we can't resolve issues if they aren't directly communicated to us and chatting about them on a forum doesn't help us to resolve an issue. So I would request that if you want us to resolve this please email us at the email address on the top right of our website (info@....). Viknor, we can very easily solve this for you, but we can't solve issues that we aren't aware of. I read the forums periodically, but I don't consider them a contact method for customer service. So please, follow up with me by email and we'll get this taken care of for you quickly and painlessly without you having to send a figure to the USA and getting you a new TYW006. Unfortunately, we just don't know by and large who a forum member is hence we can't solve problems without real names and addresses, which is why we need actual contact. We will always stand behind our products.

As for the Winged Hussar figures in general, yes there has been a packing issue with TYW006, but we do think that we've resolved it. For the other figures, TYW004/005a/005b/007/008/009/010 we haven't had any such issues. All totaled we have shipped hundreds and hundreds of these figures and it's only been TYW006 that has had a systemic type issue with it. For all other codes, damage reported has been less than 1% which represents the odd problem beyond our control (i.e. rare instances).

So "help me help you" and please contact me by email and we'll get this taken care of.

Thanks!

Matt

It's late here in HK and tired as typing but thought appropriate to acknowledge bothe the FL response via Matt and Julie at Treefrog via email.

Will deal with tomorrow as appropriate, but appreciate the timely responses.

Many thanks

Matt,
On a more positive note, my Hussars really would really like to engage in battle with an opponent. Should we expect Turks this year?
Thanks,
Matt

Sure, in fact you should expect them very soon. :smile2:

That's excellent news. Been waiting for them for a long time.

I understand. I am the same way to some degree.
Other than being Toy Solider Collectors we are perfectly normal.

Feel it's important to add to this thread to be open and honest after the disappointment in a number of us receiving broken pieces.

Time differences aside, I received quick, polite and helpful emails from Julie and Matt following this and matters are hopefully being sorted.

As it stands, although I'm currently in possession of a broken TYW006, I'm confident that matters will be resolved as soon as the postman allows.

AN UPDATE:

My replacement Kettle Drummer arrived (incredibly quickly) from the factory in China after what has been a high level of customer service from Matt

Unfortunately, this piece also arrived sans wing and it's fairly easy to see how it happens from a physics point of view when they are packed in the manner they are.

However, my gripes with packaging aside, I have to say that Matt has been exemplary during this episode and has now said that a 3rd piece will be winging (pun intended but lame) it's way to me soon with an attachable/detachable wing and that the rest of stock will be converted as such.

A bit of a palaver, but one feels that FL take note and action when required.

Upset I'll have to wait so long for such a high quality piece but this upset is somewhat assuaged by the work they are putting in to it.

Of course I still have return the two Kettle Drunmers I have wich is awful 😂😂😂
