Not sure on rarity, but I think they must be, they have to be very early examples. Bases are marked TM. Notice the odd Bases, they are World War Germans. My Aunt got them at a Train auction in a box lot of trains/Johillco figures, etc. Not the theater of Trophy I collect, so she asked me to ebay them. I know I have never seen them before!

Still deciding what to start the opening bid at on ebay. I am sure they will be intriguing to somebody!

Those aren't Trophy. They look home cast to me. Someone probably made them for friends and cut a TM in them. We had a fellow who cast his own soldiers from molds and sold them at our school festival every year. His Germans looked just like that.

Dave,
I would be willing to stake my entire collection on these being Trophy, there is no mistaking the bottom emblem. The TM is exactly as it has always appeared on the vast number of Trophy's I have.

Again, I am nearly 100% positive. I have also recently corresponded with Len Taylor on another matter and posed the question regarding these also, so I await to hear.

I doubt these are Trophy..
I have many of their earliest figures including Zulus, Dervishes and British.
Some of the early British figures have fictitious tartans but none have bases close to these.
I look forward to Len's response.

I do too, you know one thing that could be is if the original bases were cut off of other figures (Trophy) and then cut down for these. Only thing is they don't look converted. **** good mystery especially considering what else was in the auction lot. There were some very rare Britains and Johillco and a few other older makers including Barclay, Lineol, etc. I tell you, all in all, my Aunt struck gold with the lot she bought (she bought if for the railway figures). That is what happens when toy soldiers end up at a train sale. She told me a ton of Trophy ACW and Zulus were sold too at prices that would make most of the board sick. She didn't remember set numbers, but basically about 9 Zulu sets in the boxes for $100. 15 ACW regimental sets in original boxes (she said the boxes had very drab paper labels on them (red, so they sounded early like some of the ACW sets I own) - $85 and so on. I heard enough and didn't want to know anymore, I just wished she would have called me! So, there was a ton of other Trophy there, so who knows.

Tom,
I have such bizarre early Trophys in my collection nobody would believe that Len made them but he did :)
TM mark means that they are not very early probably 1995-99. The bases have certainly very strange shape ... could please post a close up of TM mark...Authenticast usually had HE (Holger Eriksson) mark.

Two soldiers with grenades are Authenticast for sure because they have distinctive curve base, the rest have typical Authenticast poses.

Hey Tom, I have a disc that Mike Laeding ( Trophy of Texas ) gave to my with an order years ago, it included every set Trophy manufactered ( accroding to Mike ) . I looked over the disc tonight and could not find a match.
Please let me know , I find these group of soliers interesting and would liek to know if you can find anything else out...Good Luck , see u in Chicago...

Also - I located my Samuari Set of the chopped of heads type guys, I will bring them to Chicago you can look them over and decide if you like them ...

I bet that "Trophy" TM is the Holger Eriksson interlocking HE.

Dave

Heck, I am not that old, but upon seeing both marks and revisiting, I think you are quite right. I was only kidding when I staked my collection on it.!!! Holy cow, they look alike. Thanks for all of the help. I thought I knew a lot about the older ones but some of you guys amaze me.

I agree, my eyes of 37 years need to be checked!!! I appreciate the confirmation and also to the rest of the board for keeping me in check.
