I will call them "under appreciated's" (based on products having great detail and eye appealing, yet lacking interest & value from re-sale secondary markeyts)...five that come to mind are listed below, feel free to add to the list below as I know there are others.

1) DD104 Recovery Vehicle

2) DD075 US Patrol Jeep & Crew

3) DD031 D-Day Minus One

4) AK017 Check point

5) WS099 German Tank Crew

I agree with you on the DD075 Jeep, it's a really great set. I would add the FOB038 Stug III, one of my favorites that I don't think got much attention when it came out. It seemed to have remained available a long time before it was retired.

Don't forget the Elefant. It's an excellent set but don't get much attention. I see it on ebay all the time for < $200.

Based on the notion of great detail, the only one I would exclude from this list is AK 017. It never really grabbed me. Aesthetically, the only one that is a head scratcher is DD 031 as it's just a very nice set.

DD 104 is an interesting case. It's nicely made and appealing but has several problems as to why it definitely deserves to be in this list: it's size takes up a lot of space and has no sizzle like a tank. From a re-sale point of view, its principal problems are the price and amounts made. You can't give it away and eBay and even when you knock the price by a third like I have still no takers. White elephant in my book.

Another one I would like to add is BBG021- JagdpanzerIV-
Not a great success although it played an important role in the BOB and can be seen on many famous photographs taken during the battle.
It goes nicely with a lot of the BOB German figurines and AFV released over the years and it is a grateful piece for any diorama.

There are two items that come to mind right away. First ws074 a waffen ss motorcycle combo. Juust a great set that has many uses. Also the luftwaffe maultier aa gun is just great looking that simulates action

A lot of choices come to mind, but for the AK series I would say it is the AK35 - Motorcycle crew; wonderful sculpting and figure positioning. Detail is tops and lots of scenes the set works perfect in.

Don't forget the Elefant. It's an excellent set but don't get much attention. I see it on ebay all the time for < $200.

Not helped by being included in the Battle of the Bulge range. {sm2}

I agree, the Jgpnzr IV is a great piece and one of my favorites. Same can be said for the BBG023 FunkKraftwagen...and it's even GREY (lol).

I disagree with DD031. For one, it doesn't show up that often, and when it does, I've seen it go for around $300. So I'd say it's appreciated and one I'd like to acquire someday.

I agree with Brad about DD104 Recovery vehicle. At $299 it has been the most expensive item produced by K&C
so far (Typhoon will overtake it). Suffered from high price, too many made and came out as GFC was hitting
3 years ago. Subject matter and size are also issues. If it had been painted in German colours and had Rommel
next to it would have been more popular. I am searching for the elusive photo of this vehicle in German cam
colours when a captured one was used by the 12th SS after Normandy and Rommel was directing traffic (Humour alert : I just made this up !).

However in todays terms $299 is probably good value. It is unlikely any brand could produce this type of vehicle with
4 full figures for $299.

Some will recall there have even been requests for the "transporter" add on.

However have to credit K&C for giving it a go in the first place.

Regards
Brett

WS099 is an amazing set to add on to almost any german armor. It enriches any dio with very nicely sculpted figures. Frankly, I had no idea this set was among the "losers" in the K&C inventory...^&confuse

I agree that you have to give Andy and K & C credit for this. Another big thumbs up for the Battle of the Bulge tractor. That was a splendid addition to the line and very well made.

I wonder about a brand making it for less I think the way CS price they probably could if, they wanted. I have this set and think its the worst SL and set K&C ever did cannot remember what ever attracted me to it enough to buy it??? Oh yes!!! It was a present from my US in laws so, I am stuck with it.

The problem IMO with it was amount made thats not an SL in my mind, it was boring, and very soon it will get the dremmel on it have some 88mm AP holes in it and be road kill in a dio

What about WS103, the Flak 18? When I bought it a year ago the dealer mentioned that he was surprised they weren't more popular. What's the feeling about this piece?

I think in this case I would think it would have been popular or, more popular, had it been in grey. I have spoken with a good few people who were put of by the pose and uniform colour of the crew and the camo colouring.

I would have liked to have seen early war crew and in more of a non action pose. Apart from that the AFV itself was rather good

Hawkeye,
I also agree about the Maultier AA gun and crew. A very nice piece to be used ej in a Falaise pocket diorama. Have ordered it recently through my local dealer with a dio in mind .

Mitch,

Interesting to see your opinion that CS could produce a DD104 vehicle with 4 full figures for less than $299 (if they wanted to).

4 CS tank crew figures go for US$130 so that would equate the Recovery vehicle as being equal to a CS Tank in cost (ie $170). I am no expert but the M26 seems a more difficult vehicle to produce. CS usually make 300 of something and there is not much option of doing different versions. K&C made 1,250.

Obviously not going to happen but I always appreciate your expert opinion on all manner of subjects.

Regards
Brett
PS Lucky for you yours was a gift.
