Pvt. Jones, one of His Majesty's Grenadiers, stationed in North America during the French & Indian War has had a little too much rum while getting ready to go on sentry duty. Dr. Fitzhugh, the company surgeon, and another grenadier have the unhappy duty of sobering him up before Captain Graham sees him.
