In this week in history, history was made when a snow storm hit Texas and shut down all 254 counties. Energy capacity was some how or another struck down and the geniuses in charge of the power grid initiated their version of rolling black outs. Which meant you got zero power. Temperatures fell below freezing while the grid operators gave you 30 seconds worth of juice so they could let you know you they were "working on it" and give you the tease of your life.
Citizens resorted to sleeping in their cars all night to avoid freezing in their homes. Many deaths were reported across the state that were directly attributed to the cold weather. In fact, a pile up of over 100 cars happened in Ft. Worth killing 5. Galveston ordered freezer trucks to handle the amount of lost souls who froze to death during the storm.
San Antonio remained calm with the River Walk Christmas lights on for three days to entertain absent tourist. Meanwhile, the leadership was asking the citizenry to conserve power. After 3 days of freezing temps, "warm sites" were finally open to the public as a respite to get out of the cold. Why they weren't open earlier is under investigation and why the River Walk Christmas lights were still on in February during a black out is also under investigation.
This disaster found Joel Ohlsteen's church ready for action to make up for the PR disaster of shutting out victims of Hurricane Harvey. This time around food, warmth and shelter was provided and splashed all over the media for all to see. So far it has been a success and maybe a lesson was learned.
Texas politicians blamed the frozen wind turbines for the lack of electricity, which by the way were noted to have never been "winterized" from a report a few years back. Details on the report can found online of course. Regardless, history was made this week when Texas failed to provide a simple service to it's State.
No resignations have been reported to date and the events of the "Valentines Day Blizzard of 2021 in Texas" are currently under investigations. Results of that investigation will be pending for a long, long time.
