Vietnam Suggestions (1 Viewer)

I think a few film figures would be nice to me. Platoon is my most favorite Vietnam war film. I know there are toy soldiers companies who have already tried it! But I think that andy and his Team can do betteršŸ˜šŸ‘
The Collector's Showcase Platoon figures look great. Personally, I prefer companies to offer different assortments/sub-themes. Lots of potential with Vietnam.

Hi Rob.
All down to personal taste I think mate.
I don't, but a lot of collectors stick to only collecting one manufacturer for whatever reason, such as liking how the collectors era of historical interests are portrayed and once a preferred style of sculpt in figures is settled on, tend to stick to that maker and so would prefer to have one makers take than another's.
Look at all the discussions about say, Tiger I tanks made by several manufacturers as an example !
In any case, not everything that collectors would like, will be made and sometimes that's just as well for our Bank balances ! {sm4}

I certainly agree with you here. Sort of goes back to the old saying, be careful with what you wish.

Hi Andy.
Where possible would it be possible if we have Aussie and US figures in same/similar poses in the range ? Since I and I'm sure a lot of other collectors would like to have US Marines figures on patrol and conversely Aussie figures in combat poses. I won't ask the same for ROK figures honest !{sm4}

Steve

PS How about a Marine firing from the left shoulder please !

The amount of camera footage showing matin3s firing from left us unbelievable!

However this may be due to the way a camera reflects images but who knows.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your latest...
While of course it's possible to replicate the poses of our 'Aussies in Vietnam' in our 'USMC in Action' and vice versa...Is it necessarily advisable..?

I primarily (but not exclusively) designed the Marines 'in action' fighting the Battle of Hue during the '68 TET Offensive...The Australians so far, and we've only just begun, are in 'patrol' mode. K&C want to continue each principal 'theme' until such time as we feel it's right (and commercial) to take the Marines or the Aussies in a slightly different direction.

I personally like the contrast between the two 'Vietnam' ranges ...and most collectors I have spoken to of seem to feel the same way.

At the same time, much as I enjoy and appreciate the myriad of ideas and suggestions for 'Vietnam', it's worth remembering that K&C has a very broad range of different historical ranges and series that also require 'reinforcements' as well.

On the positive side, K&C is researching, investigating and has already in the pipeline a large number of the ideas put forward in this thread. Several of them were and are concepts and proposals we ourselves had come up with prior to this discussion and 'mirror' quite a few of the suggestions here and elsewhere.

The Vietnam War, from a military miniature and toy soldier point of view, has very 'long legs'...Let's enjoy that 'walk' together...After all we've only just begun the fight!

Semper Fi!
Andy.

Thanks for the reply Andy. Yes explained it makes perfect sense, as you say with your wide range of the different themes being produced it's only fair to devote time to all of them after getting a new range off to a good start. Probably better for my and other collectors finances too !^&grin
Anyway thanks for introducing the Vietnam range which I look forward to collecting for a long time yet !

All the best
Steve

I would really like to see figures depicting Eddie Adams' famous picture that captured the execution of Nguyį»…n Văn LĆ©m.

I believe it took place during the Tet offensive.

Interesting idea !
To me it appears Andy's current US Marine figures poses for the Hue setting bear good resemblances to actual photos taken by Don McCullin. Will be interesting to see how he continues.
You've probably noticed from forum photos that there's a future release of MP's and their prisoner with poses based from a photo of the Tet offensive in Saigon by the American Embassy. so who knows what surprises may come out in this range !

Steve

I would like to see some scenic pieces to represent the US embassy. Maybe facades and a few walls. Maybe even one with a removable piece to represent the blown out area made by the VC.

All I want is to keep this line going. Have not been this excited about K&C since I first started collecting in 2002!

Many thanks Gary for your support and enthusiasm...Like you I'm also excited by both of K&C's 'Vietnam' ranges and looking forward to expanding and developing them in the coming months and years.

As I've said elsewhere as far as the Vietnam War goes King & Country 'has just begun to fight!'

There are some terrific releases already in development and more waiting to go into the pipeline.
Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy.

I. am really enjoying collecting this series. When it was first announced I thought it would be one of my favorite "new" lines. Andy and Co., have not let me down, I continue to look forward to the further expansion both based on Andy"s creativity and the suggestions found in this thread.

Couple of suggestions Andy for the Tet range if I may. Firstly one or two poses of Marines firing up into buildings.

Also an updated version from your the old Vietnam range of the Marine throwing a grenade. Reminds me very much of the Don McCullin photo.

Lastly for now I'd like to suggest one or two unarmed Vietnamese figures pushing heavily laden bicycles for the Ho Chi Minh trail, that can also double as refugees.

All the Best
Steve

Hello all,

A little over 2 years since the last suggestion here which all together l found extremely interesting seeing how many has since thankfully found their way to fruition. And still K&C has surprised us with even more that were not mentioned.

Now that l am nose deep into the range .. might l suggest that Andy consider doing some ARVN units particulary their Ranger, Airborne and or Marine elite units.

I still think KC should make a Sheridan tank. Although the snapping/pancake turtle shaped turret might be difficult to make.

Time to drag this out chestnut of suggestions out again Andy !

Downed Helicopter crewmen fighting off VC, croaching firing M60 covering wounded crewman, another being helped by SF /Marines.

Downed Pilot firing sidearm, Captured pilot being lead away.

Marine seated firing .50 on tripod.

Squatting Marines firing M60.

Wounded Marine being carried on poncho.

Marine / SF setting up Claymore mine.

Marines eating their C rations, drinking out of their canteens / Canteen cups.

I considered the Sheridan some time back but decided on The Dusterā€¦As far as Vietnam tanks goā€¦K&C is going for the M48 which is almost completely sculpted!
All the best,
Andy.
