I also use super glue GEL, combined with a metal pin where size of the part(s) permits. Note that the GEL does not run and only a fool would stick their fingers with that stuff and it is also a gap filler unlike normal super glue. Fast setting two part epoxy resins also work ok, but perhaps the best long term method is a soldering iron but it's not for the inexperienced as mistakes are rather permanent :)

JB Weld will have that "soldering" result. I tried it in all, i.e. car mufflers, leaky pipes, loose threads, etc...and of course on some of my KC figures.

Hi Guys,

I found the stuff called JB Kwik weld it bonds in 4 minutes and is rock hard after an hour. You have to work rather quickly but it is looking like this will be the right stuff for the job.

Hey Dave good luck hope your repair is good as new!

Why not take a photo or two, say before and after?

Might be helpful for other members.

I will go ahead and take a picture of the fixed horse's leg and post it. By the way where do you get the stuff you mentioned? My nearest hobby shop is 35miles away so I want to try and find it on line or something less gas intensive.

Dave

Dave I have a very nice hobby shop located in an old movie theatre here.

Its called Hobby Town, I go in every couple of weeks and pick up a brush or

what ever looks interesting. I had some Super Glue but it always drys up and

is fairly useless. I picked up the Zap A Gap CA+ quite by chance. It worked

just great on the machine gunner I will post a picture later. And just as

advertised it filled the gap, took the paint perfectly, and made a nice repair.

Another nice feature the bottle closed up tight, the application tube cleaned

out and I have a nearly full bottle for the next project. So I am quite pleased!

You might try one of the on-line Hobby shops let them send you a bottle.

Njja

Njja,

Thanks for the information on this stuff. I will try and get some because I want to fill the gaps on the horses body so it will look better for the paint. I will take a picture tonight and post it.

Dave

Here is a picture of the repaired front leg The JB Kwik weld seems to be pretty good stuff.

Looks real good to me. I'm still trying to get a decent shot of my Russian

machine gunner repair to post. I have lost my photographic skills for the

moment.......apparent Brain-Freeze!

Njja:D

It took me a while to get it worked out too. The file size restrictions are fun to deal with.

Dave

Dave:

I have got the file size problem worked out. My problem is the photograph

itself. I am having a total Brain-Freeze. I have great equiptment Nikon

Digital. The first group shot with a Macro lens came out to blurry, and the

second set shot with a zoom captured a Giant Solar Eclipse.....which

turned out to be my head???

I'll try again later, or perhaps let my assistant take the photos!

Here is Boo.....hes ready!!!

When you use the Macro lens it tends to focus on a smaller area causing the outer edges to be blurry. The zoom lens does the same thing or the opposite depending on how far away you are. If you have the 18-55mm lens that you get with the Nikkon cameras use it at 35mm and stand back a little then crop the shot in the capture program. It should come out nice.

Thanks Bill....actually I'm quite experienced some days you just have a

Brain-Freeze and nothing works!

Normally I set up with indirect lighting or a reflector but I just felt like

taking a couple of quick shots.....would have worked better if I had used a

Blindfold.

I'll do it better later.....movies just arrived from Amazon.com so I will

be busy for next couple of nights!

I did not think you were much of an amature. I have seen some of your other photos and they are quite good. I just like photography and thought I would thorw my 2 cents in the pot.

I look forward to seeing the repair work. Thats something I have never been fond of. I could'nt spray the side of a barn:(

As a matter of fact some of the later shots I posted of the symposium I had to use my macro lens because I forgot the regular lens and the pictures are crappy. I wanted better shots of the Seaforths and Zulu's but it just did not happen. I could only carry so much photo equipment with me on the plane.

Bill:

I use a Nikon D100 Digital which uses all my lens from my Nikon F5. Its a

great combination. Normally I only carry an 18-70 Zoom and a Fisheye when

I travel they are light and swith out quickly. I usually use either the 18-70 or

the macro for my auction work. I have a wonderful selection of lens 28-70 2.8

ect many as expensive as the cameras but they get to heavy to lug around.

Nixon is coming out with a D200 which I'm going to take a look at.

I'll try and get the photos posted today.....I have a tough schedule in front

of me lets see.......Take dog for walk.......take wife to lunch.....fit a nap in

somewhere.......start up Harleys.......did I mention the nap?

Njja

I have the D50 and really like it. I am also looking at the new D200. I will probably purchase this one next month. I also want the new 18-200mm lens that just came out a little while ago. It's a 3.5. I like the versatility of it because I can shoot action shots of my daughter at cheerleading, regular shots of every day stuff and it has the zoom for the distance stuff. I can carry just that 1 lens to cover 80% of what I shoot. My macro lens is the 60mm 2.8 which is what I shot the warbird pictures with and some of the other pictures I posted.

Enjoy that nap while you can. I think i'll take one too:)

Bill

Nikon has a new series of lens just for the digital line, I have a couple and

they are great.

Ok here is a shot of the repaired machine gunner break was where the gun

barrel meets the shield.

That looks like a good repair to me. I think you did a great job! The picture is good too. I wish it were a little larger. Can you send me an email with attachment so I can blow it up on my end?

Thanks,
Bill
