Waiting for the fog to lift - WW 1 Aircrew (1 Viewer)

Lancer - you have eyes like a hawk. It is indeed a Camel.

The kit was, I think, 1/28th Revell. My father made it many years ago and he has just started to get back into model making. He has got two or three from Wingnuts in NZ that he is working on a SE5a, a Pflaz and a Fe 2 (I think!). They are very, very impressive kits. Free postage too!

I have started buying the Jenkins ground crew and he is having fun with the camera making a few practise dioramas. Jenkins make some really nice stuff (prior to this I had barely looked at them) but they won't be getting any of my father's money. He likes the building part of it too much. They will have to content themselves with my money.

Regards

Jack
I believe you are right. The tripe is 1/28 scale. My father built me one back in the late 50's/early 60's, to go with the Spad and Camel that Revell made. I still have the Spad and it is still in one piece after 50 years. Good glue, that Testor's liquid.:wink2: I collect the JJD WW1 aircraft. Still need to get the SE-5, several of the ground crew, and a couple of the pilots. They are all superb. Good for your father on building those kits. I have neither the patience or eyesight for DIY anymore. The Wingnuts look to be outstanding kits, with some really unusual choices.
I'd love to see JJD do a DH-2, Fee, or Bristol F2b. -- Al

Jack,
At some stage soon you will have enough planes and crew (oh and a hangar) for a large dio of a full airfield, better do some research as to weather a control tower was used by any side during the Great war, perhaps a new build is in order....:wink2:
Wayne.

Mess Hall might be a better bet. We must talk to Bob about how to make a decent looking wind sock.

The Se5a from Wingnuts was 60 dollars delivered and it is a superb kit. The JJD planes are top notch too, but it will be the figures for me for a while, although a F2b would be quite the temptation. I know deep down that if I buy one plane there will be no stopping there.

Good idea, I will start looking for one on the net (if you find something send it to me) and the wind sock...hmmm yes Bob may have a idea or three.
Wayne.

Watch out for ground fire, Manfred.
