Love the Wildcat. Figarti did it's research and did the correct version for Wake, the F4F-3, with four guns. But the price leaves me out.{sm2} -- Al

One thing you don't normally have to worry about with Figarti is the research.

aircraft looks interesting and will be interesting to see the price of a small fighter aircraft as to date the Figarti offerings have all been larger more expensive aircraft. They are now entering, with this release and, any future the K&C dominated market in 1/30th fighter aircraft

Nice Looking WWII aircraft again by Figarti{bravo}}....Pacific Theater is not my area of interest except for the P-38 Marge which I could not pass up....Excellent Aircraft...(Where is the European Theater "California Cutie"???? Still waiting for that one to be released as it was only presented as a prototype.....Hopefully this will be the beginning of more smaller European British BOB and American WWII Fighter planes....If Figarti can continue to release excellent model WWII planes at fair prices like the Spitfire, Typhoon, Mustangs etc....They will be a force to be reckoned with in the TS market.... Figarti's detail, painting and weathering is unmatched in warbirds{bravo}}.......Rick please consider a Me262 nitefighter.

Wondering where Wayne got the photos. I didn't see them on the Figarti site nor Hobby Bunker's.

The Wildcat looks great, but it shouldn't have drop tanks mounted on it. Here are some notes from Lundstrom's First Team:

April 26, 1942 - Halsey sends request to Bureau of Aeronautics for drop
tanks for F4F-4

circa 9 May 1942 - while waiting for response, NAS Pearl Harbor works up
42 gal drop tank for F4F-4 and tested 9 May - 20 May 1942 on F4F-4 BuNo 5050

circa 27 May 1942 - RAdm Noyes orders VF-6 and VF-8 to test drop tank
and that each squadron have twenty-seven change sets and 54 drop tanks
Lundstrom notes, "As it happened, the squadrons were too busy at Midway
to worry about testing belly tanks".

"By the summer of 1942, the Bureau of Aeronautics opted instead for two
fifty-eight gallon auxiliary tanks....
The new drop tanks and plumbing added about 750 lbs. to an already
overloaded F4F-4. Bill Leonard wryly commented that with its two wing
tanks, 'the F4F-4 was a DOG!'"

Regardless of the date, the F3F-3/3A didn't have the fittings to handle the tanks. By the time that the drop tanks arrived, they were pretty much all gone anyhow.

Here are the fuel capacity specs for the Wildcat:

F4F-3/F4F-3A (unprotected tanks) - 160 gal internal, no drop tanks

F4F-3/F4F-3A (protected tanks) - 147 gal internal, no drop tanks

F4F-4/FM-1 - 144 gal internal, provision for two 58 gal external drop tanks

Did not see the drop tanks but, its the same for the stuka the variants they have done some would not have had them. Figarti must have had a deal on them???LOL

I believe they were on when I saw them on Friday in Peter's room. They were held on by magnets.

The fuel tanks come unattached. Magnets left out! I think they need to be glued in (optional) I am leaving mine off!

The new Wake island sets were well received at the show. I do have a some coming home and should be at the shop on Friday. The rest will be here in a few weeks.

All The Wake Island sets are up on my site. I have reduced the price of the figure sets since the original figures posted at the show. I am sorry but the Plane has to stay at 289.00 with the figure.

We sent the pics on a newsletter Friday morning. If you want the Figarti news first, then sign up for our newsletter on our homepage.

I noticed in one of the pics that the canopy was cast in two pieces. In one of them, it appeared to be partially in the open position. Is this a feature of the model, and can you comment on the interior of the cockpit?

I really enjoy the battle scene poses of the figures in action, the Jap soldiers look well done, the U.S. not to bad either, congrats to Figarti on a nice plane and some fighting soldiers...Sammy
