Being a big fan of the WBritain’s War along the Nile series I am always looking forward to the new releases and expanding my collection. I came across this image of the Grenadier Guards, Guards Camel Regiment wearing the red service uniform (Red frock coat) and this got the old grey matter working – wouldn’t this make for a fine set of TS’s. A bit more research on the net and it appears that a number of TS companies (especially gloss) produce sets of figures in the red coat as well as the more popular grey (and probably correct) campaign version.
I therefore decided to get a couple more of the mounted Camel Corps figures and a bit of a repaint later here we have the finished result (Trooper, I still have the Officer to finish).
So here we have a comparison photo of the original and my modified figure.
When I have finished the Officer they will both be added to one of my WAN displays.

Cheers. :salute::

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Bravo.....well done on getting the WB Camel Corps sets. I am a great fan of the Camel Corps in any paint finish. Like Martyn, my sets are rather shiny too.

You are right about the grey coats. If my memory serves me correctly, I think the definitive reference book on this is in "With the Camel Corps up the Nile" by Count Gleichon, Lieut. Grenadier Guards.

Cheers, Raymond. :)

Always a little risky altering a figure, no turning back, but the Red coat looks good Jeff, prefer it over the Blue one. Too bad it was not also released in this version, but yours will be unique.^&cool, Robin.

Well done Jeff. Glad to see you're honing your excellent painting skills. The Napoleonic RHA you did for me several years ago is still one of the highlights of my collection.

Thanks Raymond, I think the red coat is more of the "Romantic vision" of the Camel Corps! :wink2:

Nice repaint Jeff. I think I prefer the redcoat version myself.

Cheers Scott, I do as well so I might have to do a couple more - isn't there a saying that you can never have enough camels?

^&confuse:rolleyes2::wink2:^&grin
